Hi guys
Not sure if you remember me Russell Dowd I was I think one of the first guys to get into kitesurfing in Tassie back in 1998 and teach and sell kites to a few good kiters back then. My first kite was the origional wipika 5m 2 lines (huddo, Justin Walls and Simon Hanson). I and the rest of us progressed from that kite quick and then got a 9m 2 line Naish and then with a keen mate Justin Walls got an arx 12 then x2 Naish kites and North Rhino 2, man that kite was a tractor. I have had about a five year rest from kites then my mate Justin and I recently purchased new kites 12m North and Naish kites. We both had our first sail in years at Cremorne Front Beach and it was fantastic fun and interesting how you do not lose any of the skills and how much safer the new kites are.
I still go windsurfing heaps but look forward to having a few good kites again as well.

Please keep an eye out for us and say hi we would both enjoy the chat.

Cheers Russ

Hi Russ,

Great to hear you are back into kiting again. I bought some windsurfing gear off you years ago when I was up in Coles Bay and then got into kiting and 7 years on have not looked back. I am up at Turners Beach now on the North Coast and we have a good crew up here and hold regular kiting weekends for all the crew up at stanley and Marrawah. You should come up for a blast when we are doing it next with the rest of the Hobart guys & Gals (Lisa).

Cheers

Hi Russ,

Welcome back man - did a little try-windsurfing day with simon hanson before he took up the new job, and kite pretty regularly in hobart. We just had a couple good days of wind come through cremorne too, today looking real good too.

Will keep an eye out on the beaches i'm sure we'll catch up, and like BenK said the ducks nuts weekend events are good value, am sure samio will schedule one in for sept/oct so put that on yer calendar and we can get a decent hobart crew up there.

Kite on!
JK

Hi Ben and JK,

Hi Ben it's fantastic to hear from you again and thanks for the reply. Good on you for keeping up with the kites. I stopped because I did a disc in my lower back (not sure if it was kite related) and to be honest this time when I go I will be a bit more careful and not go for those huge jumps that I loved in the day. I shall look forward to having a kite with you again mate. Have you converted Turners beach to no plastic bags yet? You are an inspiration to us all.
Cheers Mate

JK thanks for the reply I would love to have a kite with you. My biggest problem is kiting on my own. I like to go with others so that I can take the stress out of the launch and landing of the kite.
Hope to see you on a beach soon.
Kind Regards Russ

Hey Russ,
Welcome back! Hopefully by now you've run into some of the crew (which is expanding all the time here). Looking forward to seeing you on the water
