Personally I use a combo of the BOM ( I cant spell bureau) site and the weather channel synoptic images.

What I want to know is what does everyone else use ?
Especially for Southern Tassie where seabreeze doesn't predict, and how accurate do you find this system?

BOM 4 day charts pretty much tell it all.
Otherwise tea leaves, tarot cards, crystal balls, sacrificial burnings of young virgin goats, that type of stuff.

I'm with Easty, any forecast more than 2 days out is pure fallacy and lies.

I use Easties Pagan ritual approach, plus, for an idea of what may happen I use BOM's Marine services colour graphs. Like anything, there sort of ok for up to 2-3 days but give you up to 7 days out.

If your looking at sailing around Hobart forget about Bom's South East Coast Forecast it's more suited to offshore area's and should only be used as a general guide. Stick to their Marine sevices colour charts, they are more accurate in shore. Check the Derwent Eastury and Storm Bay forecast issued the day before.

Nothing beats reading a Chart, especially in summer when local knowledge is a benifit for seabreeze's from south, south east or East/North East.

Live and learn.....as well as live somewhere near a sailing spot and you just go when it's windy.
Andrew Barrenger is a good person to teach you about the weather and how to read charts, I learnt it all from him and he still gives me tips, he's even considering going for a sail at Carlton when it's on next. Otherwise wait for an sms from Houston or ring Kaleb!!

Andrew is still around but he doesn't sell gear any more. He told me last night he went for a sail at Carlton on Monday, went out for his first run and then guess what.......the wind dropped out. Fancy that.

FoS,
Gestalt used this site http://forecasts.bsch.au.com/gfs_plot.html# prior to Burrum this year . You can set it to whatever parameters you want e.g. 1knot gradients, latitude , longitude etc. Found it to be really accurate (well as accurate as forecasting goes anyway) and gives you 7 days forecast at minimum +/-3 hour or max +/-24 hour intervals.

Hit the "winds + Streams" in the quicklinks just below the "GFS Forecast run" bar, then in "Variables" row put your preferred wind gradient in far right box (it's default is in 5 knot gradients but I set this to two as you get a much more colourful picture ). Then in the "Map Projection" set lat/lon co-ords in of region you want, then hit "request plot".

This is the BoMs one I occasionally use as well although clarity/flexibility not as good as above. www.bom.gov.au/jsp/marine/wind/index.jsp

Be aware! Sausage is only trying to be nice so he can butter us up before asking for the $365 for posts and replies that he's owed

PS - doesn't look too promising for you guys this weekend either (although Seabreeze is showing different).
