"Aussie Aloha" ... that's the best way i can describe The Saltwater Festival.

When Trevor Hendy and his Team invite Ocean Lovers for two days of Paddling, Music, Food, Family and Fun, the likes of Jamie Mitchell, Dean Gardiner, Shannon Eckstein, Ky Hurst, Greg Long, Chris Maynard, Woogie Marsh, Paul Jackson, Allison Fullagar and many others, find the appeal irresistible.

SUP, Ski, Outrigger, Paddleboard, Beach Volleyball, ThunderCats, The Saltwater Festival has it all.

"Chris Maynard" - one of the best Downwind paddles i have ever done ....

Hows the people doing the 30km downwinder without a hydration pack on.. Do they have boats handing out water or something because that would be a hardcore paddle with no water..

Some were in teams so they would get a drink when they did the change.

That could very well happen hawk, Trev is talking about the next one on the Gold Coast this Nov and possibly running them in other states and OS as well. Fantastic idea, lot's of work to do to make it happen.

I can just imaging a great down wind race in the arvo with the freo Dr behind you followed by some nice tunes with the sun going down over the indian ocean

Great vid Rambo!
Shows everyone who missed out how fun the conditions were and hopefully will encourage more to get involved in the next one.

Missed most of the last 10k (which was epic) a we had to catch the leaders before they ran thru the finish line. One of those days where you needed 2 cameramen.

Full credit to the SUP community for getting behind these events, the buzz from the SUPer's reminds me of OC1 in the early days, everyone was keen as and went to every race. Your continued support will pay off in the long run as more race organizers recognize the potential of Downwind SUP and SUP in general.

Cheers Rambo

Good stuff Rambo, another top vid and great work by the organisers for a well run event. With the good turnout of 14's we will be definitely looking at sponsoring a seperate 14'0 division next year

Nice, cool pics of downwinder. Thundercats seem a bit out of place at the event to me, but I wasn't there. Ah, the serenity, not.

Hey Guys and Girls,

Thanks for the great feedback and support for the event. The Crew that were there loved it. we really do want to make a difference when we put these events on and have the whole family there and the vibe that makes you want to hang around and be with everyone. Next time around we will have much better result system, prizes, advance alerts of event times, entry prices, everything we can to make it the funnest place to be.

We are doing it to give back and share what the water has done for us. We are still working on how to make the event pay for itself and gather a team of people that can help us put it on bigger and better but rest assured we will be putting on more.

Yes, hoping for Gold Coast in November and will give news when we get it. Also, back at Salt in April/May and make a long weekend of it, great place to escape and hopefully something for everyone to look forward to.

Great Vid Rambo, awesome to have you as part of the team. Couldn't have done it without you.

Once again, thanks for the support guys and girls, any help and feedback is welcome in the future and yes, 14 footer category is a must.

Cheers,
Trev

Terrific video Rambooc
I wasnt able to go to the festival due to work commitments but surfed early both mornings at Kingscliff before work, coming out of the water to see the thundercats unloading at the boat ramp. In my opinion thundercats have no place in a celebration of the ocean they are noisy and polluting maybe they can be talked into putting four man paddling teams in them.

Yes, feedback taken on the thundercats. We are looking at more teams events, already a lot to manage with categories and age groups etc, but yes, looking at what is most popular and what gives everyone a chance to come paddle....
