Aluminum masts have received a lot of criticism... unjustified in my opinion, unless you only ride the same foil and never take apart your setup, mast, etc.
I mainly ride in fresh water and occasionally in salt water, and I've never had any problems. I apply Tef-Gel to my screws, although I imagine there are now products that work even better than Tef-Gel. As for jumping, I've only bent one mast in six years of foiling—and I do jump!
So, I have an aluminum mast with different mast lengths, as well as a carbon mast. I sometimes rig two foils on two different boards and don't have the budget for 4 carbon mast.
I do agree the carbon feels better and you can go skinner with carbon...but it works and it's a great way to save money.
