Or , just leave a normal vent plug alone. Don’t touch it unless board is on roof racks , left in sun for abnormal lengthy times , stored in hot car or in an aeroplane.
Popcorn…….

except if the normal vent plug is faulty / letting water in which is what this thread was all about

I do one oversized board bag that takes Waveboard mast boom wetties towels etc and second bag is a an oversized surfboard bag with surfboard and two or three sails

I agree keep it around 20kg ish it’s all way easier

where are you flying from? Brisbane oversized is right next to check in terminals same as Perth

It’s not hard but can be a pain in the a***
I once flew from London to Oman with 90kg gear was moving home after many years and got stung a thousand pounds and a weeks delay in gear lost one week sailing out of a six week trip.

Airlines won’t take over 32kg per bag. So if you’re in the border it’s better to just pay extra for two bags and not stress about it and take it extra stuff. If it’s over 32 they’ll make you split into two checked bags anyway

Rule No 1.: Never buy a board from a Pro. Especially a wave board... If you want an abused board than you got one.

Another way to look at it / alternate perspective.

Pros have their technique and landings together. So very few flat landings. Most pros come in super soft from back loops (nose it in) or have their forward technique down (parachute floaty landings)

Intermediates / progressing sailors can do some HIDEOUS flat landings as they are learning all the lessons the hard way.

It very much depends on who the sailor is.

Well at least I am not buying from Koster..And for sure he is familiar with jumping I reckon...😂.

Board is in A+ condition apart from leaking Goretex vent which could happen in any board. So I’d buy again too. It’s 5.6kg and is a dream to ride so yeah… you do you! I’m a happy sailor!

Hey I’m heading to Mana Island in Fiji in August for a week. Apparently you can get a boat to cloudbreak from there but I wondered if anyone has sailed Mana Island itself? Apparently there a left on the top of the island that doesn’t get as much swell as cloudbreak but is cross off same kind of set up with the Fijian SE trades. Keen to take gear will boat out to cloudy but it’d be fun if you could sail just off the island
cheers

I've got my flat water freeride summer lake blasting board cracking under the heel. It's a great board but I'm not keen on investing in a proper repair. What's a DIY job I can do to at least keep the water out. I imagine excavating and bogging with something then glass repair over would be the go or. going really dodgey. could you simply cover the whole cracking area with sika flex or some kind of marine silicone?
any advice appreciated for a home diy job

It will work fine. no different than the " normal" metal bung screw and "o" ring
which auto shop was it as my mate is looking for that option.

Cost. Foam makes new models easy to produce .. but slight tweaks for costly mould changes made it hard to have a range of hollow boards.

then labour cost maybe for more complex layup, trimming halves and then bonding halves properly.
I think foam sandwich is the best blend of cost vs durability vs ability to change shape if needed and that's why it's prevailed.
I've seen some great DIY hollow boards but I think the current mass production of them is a response to the trendiness of wing / DW and wanting to have something new that the other companies don't have. I hope it doesn't translate to $5000 windsurf boards soon.

too late... $4950 farkin el

Everything can happen, I have 4 Severneboards and I have changed the valve in the two oldest. I had to smash one valve as I could not get it out, and I obesrved that there were no rubber-ring between the hole and the valve. may be the same for you? The valves had no inscriptions. I changed them to the best valves from "GORE" and with the inscriptions:
M12 X 1,5 PMF 100585
Its the best high flow valve from Gore. Do not forget to put a thin layer of silikon before screwing in the valve.

Thanks
i ended up getting an m12x1.5 alloy plug screw with o ring from automotive shop. Use it as a vent screw
seems to work ok so far

New pyro 93 (to me) was one of Philip Köster customs with more rocker (it’s sick!) got it from him at margs in Feb. always had board upside down and noticed a small pool of water under the Goretex vent screw. So it must be holding water and taking it in. Any advice from other Severne owners with same issue? Repair or replace vent? Can you do it easily or a job for board repairer?
thanks
