So what would be the board of choice, to race, assuming $$$ and availablilty in Aust were no barrier.
Phantom
R1
BOHO
Monster.
Other?

which one to buy.

I think the R1 for me because its made to order and hand built so guessing the quality is good. Not sure of how it performs against the others though.

Rig wise I think I would go Loft sails, I have some older 2016 versions and they are still pretty good.

You will have to wait for the expose on A Current Affair

I thought you have a right to trim a neighbours tree if it is over your property, the cost of trimming and diposal is on you.

If its not over your property than you cant touch it.

A qtr million registered boats in NSW.

If a court ruled 250,000 boats only have to pay for 90 days of rego because they are only allowed 90 days in navigable waters I think that would hurt the government. They might rethink these stupid anchoring limits.

That's a very weak point of view. Unfortunatley Australia is full of weak points of view.

We should have stopped sending iron ore and coal and whatever other resources they want from us. The only thing the CCP respects is leverage.

Yeah would cause short term pain, maybe for a long time but the easy road is often not the best road

I would make it so everything that we export has to have value added. Iron ore would be steel, sheep would be lamb chops. Wheat would be flour. Energy would stay here to power it all etc etc.

Australia has everything we need to be a global powerhouse except the will.
Keating and Twiggy and Dan Andrews and their ilk would sell us out, correction have sold us out. Unfortunatley Morrison only dipped a toe in the water and got cold feet straight away.

CCP can go suck on a fart, bending the knee to them is the entirely wrong thing to do.

As a person who is anti immigration who exactly would you propose to work in the the smelters and flour mills
Yes we have resources but we are a small population that do not want to do these sorts of jobs

We will have robots in few years doing all that stuff for us. The cost of labour disadvantage we suffer from atm will disappear in due course.

Keep the resources here so we can add value and benefit.

Fyi, I am not anti immigration, it should just be done in a deliberate and controlled manner. But then again maybe it already is.

Australia's population is less than 2% of China's population. Picking a fight with them would be suicide.

Agree that it would further our interests if we were more self sufficient.

I wouldn't pick a actual fight but I dont think bending the knee helps. Saying nothing enables bullies to get away with bullying. Be that in a playground or the UN.

I don't get how one section of government can impose usage limits on a boat in a given 12 month period , whilst another section insists it must be registered for 12 months.

Moreton Bay has a 4 month anchoring limit. That means you can only use your boat 4 months a year if your not travelling but it has to be registered for 12 months.

I think I would take that court if some marine park official tried to enforce it.

I was going to vote for Whitlam, but then I checked the rules and saw that political comments and conspiracies are not permitted (unless you are Snoidberg). So I withdraw my vote.

Problaby agree with you placing Whitlam as the worst. The fact he got sacked by the Gov Gen demonstrates how bad he must have been.

I agree with Dawn Fraser's assesment of Albo.

Bob Hawke probably best Labor PM, I think he would be turning overn in his grave at how extreme the current Labor Gov is and I think he knew what a woman is.

Keating is a CCP stooge, he would sell us all in the blink of an eye.

Morrison put the country in more debt than Rudd, locked us down, brought in the E safety crap and signed us up to net zero. At least didnt run open borders.

Rudd, Gillard, Rudd were just chaos.

Probably John Howard and The mad monk were the best of a bad bunch.

They all worked for the Uniparty.

The two party system has to go.

A second person as crew would be good, generally on the first shakedown sail down the coast you will find something amiss with the boat, a second person gives you the time to rectify the situation.

+1

A second person would be high on my priority list, especially for a new sailor on a new boat.

I don't have lithium as yet although next time I may bite the bullet.

I think a risk with lithium that I dont think has been mentioned as yet is losing critical systems in the event of a bms shutdown, which is probably far more common than a fire. Losing nav lights or navigation systems or bilge pumps or any other critical system at a badtime could be just as catastrophic as a fire.

Lead acid is more robust and not likely to just shut down so I think if I do change to lithium I will keep critical systems on a seperate bus that is lead acid and kept at 100% charge via a a dc dc charger from the lithium bank.

A bit more work to install but I think it is a more robust system that has a built in redundancy.

There was one on the ceiling of my sons bedroom, he couldnt go to sleep with it there. I thought to try and move it along with a stick, it ran across the ceiling at lighting speed until it was over me then launched it self. I got such a shock I reeled backwards and tripped over something and landed in my sons drum kit. My son nearly died laughing and the spider escaped.
Respect to that spider, he was bold enough to attack and escaped as a result.

Brighton to Blairgowrie race today on a mate's boat.

Proved to myself i was meant for sailing. About 4pm i was sitting there thinking "I'm cold, I'm wet, I'm hungry, I'm knackered, I'm dying for a p**s and hold on... I'm completely happy! "

Me too, went for a windsurf yesterday, got back to the boat cold and wet. Tied the dinghy up. Jumped into a hot shower, made a cup of tea, grabbed a couple of biscuits and put netflix on. Completely happy. Feeling some anxiety atm cause I have to go into a marina later this morning.

"The rise of creator media has been a boon for those who peddle bull****, as bias and bull**** are core features of what wins our attention on social media.

It turns out that when you migrate our entire news media ecosystem on to platforms that map on to our emotional wiring, you are inadvertently building Karl’s podcast. To be successful in this attention economy, the platforms have decided that anger, outrage and controversy rules. That negative attention counts as much as positive engagement. That one must act like a cancelled free speech warrior, even when one may not be. In other words, it’s the algorithms, stupid."

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jun/30/its-the-algorithms-stupid-why-karl-stefanovic-followed-joe-rogan-in-building-on-our-worst-instincts

Or

People are sick of leftard BS from the guardian, ABC, channel 9,10,7,sbs the AFL the NRL, every newspaper, the conversation and MSN.

Btw your guardian article seems to be focusing on "negative attention" as much as every other platform.

I think the guardian and all other established msm platforms are feeling like their business models are under threat from podcasters and other independant journalists,

Listening to the guardian bleat about the algorithm like its some sort of biased overlord dragging people away is rubbish. The algorithm works the same way for the left as it does for right.

Did you watch the podcast? Was everything he said lies or are there specific things your referring to.

Karl Stefanovic said after he left 9, he wanted to put people on his show and let the audience decide for themselves.

So have you watched it and decided, what parts made you say he is spreading lies.

Is that like, "Doing your own research"?

What is your education level?

Have you ever been diagnosed as being on the spectrum?

On reading D3s post, a 'worldly' person would be asking Andrew Bolt these questions.

You start this thread, you invite discussion, now your attacking me personally because I am discussing.

Nah, didn't watch. Just said that Andrew Bolt had and provided a very brief summary of his commentary.

He was a lot more scathing towards both Karl and Tommy.

Feel free too read it here:
www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/a-thug-andrew-bolt-tears-into-tommy-robinson-says-nine-was-right-to-be-horrified-by-karl-stefanovic-interview/news-story/e75fd0a1c4de34e7c46b4b1c54b9287b

Or you could watch Bolt on youtube etc.

I struggle to watch Andrew Bolt, I don't disagree with a lot of his sentiment or points of view but he is just annoying. I did see a comment of his about Tommy Robinson. Bolt seemed to just right anything off Tommy Robinson said because he doesn't like him.
I dont think that is smart, it's just bias.

As for his view of Karl, Bolt is probably feeling a little insecure.

Anyway is this focus on Bolt a 'what about' technique in action.

Well no Cam. Sorry. I agree with the sentiment in that meme but he was sacked for promoting the podcast in his other job on TV which was a breach of contract

Hmmm, might be the official reason.

I wonder, all else being equal, if the podcast was interviewing a different controversial person, Grace Tame for example, do you think he would be sacked the day after interviewing her.
