I just started working on this and finally got some completed on foil on my second session. They’re not polished and pretty but for two sessions worth of attempts I’m happy. I think what made the difference was going to my larger front foil (Gong Veloce XL) versus my daily driver (Gong Veloce L). You don’t really give up much top end or agility, but gain big time on the low end, especially when practicing in pretty flat water. Really helps when you’re slow and sloppy on first attempts I remember getting my first successful Around-The Worlds the same way on my older V1 Veloce’s. Actually did the first one on a huge XXL and now I can do them on my V2 L. One other quick mention of wind strength. If I go out in lighter winds (12-14 kts) with a larger foil I can still generate a decent level of speed and not have to contend with as much “windage” when gliding through the upwind portion of the move. A foil can have great glide but that windage will kill your speed in a heart beat!
