The Union represents a complete overhaul from the previous Fusion system, introducing a stiffer, more refined build and a level of performance that puts Cabrinha firmly back into the high-end foil conversation. The centerpiece of this redesign is the new monoblock fuselage connection, licensed from Mike’s Lab—a system long respected for its strength and precision. Cabrinha adapted it to their own needs, using larger M8 bolts rather than M6 for added stiffness and durability. While the connection shape resembles the Mike’s Lab interface, it’s not directly cross-compatible. The Union’s front wing and half of the fuselage are molded together into one solid piece for maximum rigidity and hydrodynamic efficiency, while the rear fuselage and stabilizer are also molded as a single unit. This two-piece lower assembly keeps the system lightweight, stiff, and streamlined while minimizing vibration and drag. Although Cabrinha had initially planned to move away from compatibility with older systems, they’ve since confirmed that a mast adapter will allow riders to use their existing aluminum masts with the new Union fuselage. Riders using Cedrus masts will also have access to an adapter to make their gear Union-compatible. Older foils won’t fit on the new masts, but the adapters give Cabrinha’s long-time users a way to transition without completely replacing their setups. The new lineup includes 705, 905, and 1105 front wings, paired with 160 and 180 tails and either a 14mm or 16mm high-modulus carbon mast. The 905 is highlighted as the sweet spot—a single foil that can handle most conditions for winging, prone foiling, or Foil Drive sessions. Tucker and Jeff agree that Cabrinha has struck an impressive balance between speed, glide, and surfy handling. Despite the high aspect ratio—up to 11:1 on the 905—the Union feels lively and responsive, rolling smoothly into turns with minimal input. Tucker compares it to “loose trucks on a skateboard,” emphasizing how intuitively it carves without feeling twitchy or unstable. The glide and efficiency are immediately noticeable, especially when pumping or linking swells. It’s a foil that accelerates as it pumps, rather than just maintaining speed, rewarding smooth and rhythmic technique. While it doesn’t specialize in slow, heavy pumping, it excels once up to speed, making it ideal for riders chasing waves, gliding through downwinders, or cruising between swells. One of the most surprising characteristics of the Union is its tip-breach stability. Despite the long wingspans, riders can lift a large section of the foil out of the water mid-turn without losing control. The wing’s mustache-like profile, with thinner, twisted tips, allows this forgiving behavior. It’s a confidence-inspiring design that encourages hard, surf-style riding without fear of ventilation. Even aggressive carves feel predictable and smooth. Both Jeff and Tucker were impressed by how comfortable the foil felt under pressure, with plenty of stiffness and drive through turns. In terms of rider profile, the Cabrinha Union system is built for intermediate to advanced foilers ready for more glide, speed, and responsiveness. It’s not an entry-level setup, but it’s approachable enough for those stepping up from mid-aspect gear. Its balance of stability and agility makes it versatile across disciplines—perfect for wing foiling, prone surf foiling, or pairing with a Foil Drive. Jeff and Tucker found the 905 to be a true one-foil quiver for most conditions, while the 1105 offers a touch more low-end lift for lighter winds or downwind days.
