I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Riift-enabled prone board from 270 Board Co, and a 2p propulsion unit from Riift to start playing with. The system starts with a Shaper like https://270boardco.com/#. Making a prone board with the Riift tracks in it, you can then either use the blank plug to use it as a standard prone or parawing board or add a Riift propulsion unit to turn it into a next-generation assist board. In this video i walk through the setup of a new 2p unit as a first-timer, so you can learn along the way with me. The whole process was pretty straightforward and didn't require any tools other than scissors to trim the motor pod cable to length and the standard track nuts to attach your mast to the board, just like any board. Then I show my first session ever riding an assist in the ocean; there is some learning to do, and I can't wait for my next session, but right away I was catching waves and having a blast. Stoked for bigger surf where this thing is going to be so nice, getting to take off early out the back. I was surprised how well it pumped and really didn't take away from that prone foiling feeling that I love. I think the balance of the weight is right over the front wing, and that's what really makes it able to be surfed more naturally than you would expect for an assist.
