Girl in wheelchair learning to kite board in Ireland!
It's been almost a month since Jen has begun learning to kiteboard, and in that time she's learnt to fly the kite, set it up on her own (not so easy on sand!) and now body drag upwind. The next step is of course riding on the board, but a special seat needs to me made and a custom board adapted to suit their purpose. Currently they're working on the design, but within the next few months they'll get it sussed - so hopefully then we'll see Jen up and riding!
Here's what Jen had to say about learning to kiteboard:
"I know its dodgy, its mad but hey aint that why we are living...... I know all the risks and dont worry I am not wrapped in cotton wool and i aint putting anyone else at risk! I have surfed, paddle boarded, knee board, kayaked, I am a diver, I can bench press my own body weight and have some hang time on the olympic rings. ... oh yeah bungee jumped to the only thing I cant do is walk. The ocean is where I am at peace, enough said."
Don't believe us? Check out the video below of Jen learning to body drag. There's also two episodes prior, check them out for the full story - and stay tuned for more updates on Jen's progress!
