When he turns up, no CV, no work experience, stoned, smelly, dirty clothes, being a smartrse, who in their right mind is actually going to offer him a job?

They ^^^ would make great actors in a mad max movie, but really it's no wonder the beautiful and Handsome well mannered people get the job and the left overs are found down in the dole Que.
imagine everyone was nice and polite, like in japan where there is no unemployment.

Yes I would and always have, even when I had to go on the dole eons ago, could not stand it, felt out of place for me so I busted my butt till I got a job.
People will just grab the white pages/internet to get their quota not knock on doors.

Secondary problem to the issue is also what are people going to do when they get cut off. More bashing's to steal, break & enters ect ect. A way to help curb the problem starts with big companies sending work over sea's and stupid things like the Gov sacking 3000 staff only to re-advertise the same roles months later.

I'm with youngbull in the way that I see obese sloths doing rudimentary work soooooooo slowly, when I'm in an emergency **** job (going on 3 years now), fair slaving my guts out for a poverty line wage. Have the unions protected these imbiciles so much? How can I get a cushy well paid job like that? In reality, the boredom of said jobs may do my head in, but my current job is, so it's not really a concern.
I'm skilled in an unusual way which seems to have limited demand here, but buggered if I can afford to pack it in and retrain, with a family and mortgage...

Those like them, but just smart enough to at least shower and remove some of the nose rings before the interview.

I am not on the dole nor have I ever been on the dole. Working for the dole as pm33 just stated is akin to slave labour.divide and conquer, what abbot fails to realise is we aren't in Rome and we aren't his pawns to shift around on the table. Last year I paid 60 grand tax. Pretty sure that covers a few people on the dole for the year. I don't see my tax benefitting any real projects or road upgraded. In fact with 24 million Aussies and under 10 percent unemployed. I'm pretty sure not only should the dole be paid but also the disability pension there trying to stop people getting. My tax dollars are helping build Victoria quay and entertainment centres. I'd much rather see it go to the dole and training for those who need it. Help them up don't hold them down

A question is if you applied to a business asking for work, even though they didn't have a job advertised, would that be considered a Job application If so could you not just send one company two applications a day and technically have applied for 40 jobs

i agree buddy, can someone take the job of fixing the typing bugs here On sea breeze! because I'm tired of going back and correcting it, enough work just watching the dumb auto speel checker that it don't change my words. Hell who does not know the first letter of any word? Plus I was taught in school that all nouns start with a capital like Horse!!! But good grief let's not judge people on speel mistakes, as long as we get their drift. Or soon one will be expected to talk all proper like.

Things were much better in the old days when dole bludgers could insist on only working in their
chosen vocations. There were hundreds of unemployed LION TAMERS on the centrelink books.
No need to send out applications, there were no openings, especially in northern queensland
were most of these clever parasites congregated. Ahh the good old days.

yes i have always said that about murdoch, gina and twiggy and all the other bludgers.

My Mrs works in HR and when she posts a job ad she might get 100 + applicants and maybe 5 - 10 are suitable. Its time wasting and not fair on the person filtering through applicants. She would post an ad for a Boilermaker or Fitter with certain tickets / qualifications and Laboures or TAs apply. Why would you do that knowing that your not suitable? To get Centrelink Payments!

As I mentioned before iv been right through the system over the years and must say it works well.
there is no free ride anymore and everyone is put through the ringer when they walk in the door, a bit humiliating
for some! those benefits are a right in this country.
to pick on the unlucky ones who did't get a good upbringing, missed out on an education or were just born in the wrong place.
is unfair and not Australian.
its our fault there are not enough jobs and people who look down their noses at them have little compassion for others.
you may say they are lazy etc. but gee how many lazy workers are out there? So buy Australian, help create work, if you don't like this Gov. Then vote for another.

Hmmm, breakfast time and there is a bit of steak in the fridge. Maybe life is not so bad after all :D.....

The only problem with 'working for the dole'..... Lets pick a type of work ie; cleaning up street / road / parkland trees in council areas this then now has the stigma of a 'no skill' work with little or no value, do that for a couple of years & train people in the tree maintenance what you have? 'a worthless job'

What is REALLY needed is a way to inspire motivation.....Motivated people find themselves jobs, but then again motivated people wouldn't be on the dole in the first place...... So how do 'inspire motivation? Make the dole harder to get !!!!!!
