I dont have enough faith in our legal system to trust it with taking someones life just yet.

How many people are wrongly accused (especially of sexual abuse & other physical crimes) out of spite from fallen-out relationships?
A mate of mine was accused of abusing his 13yo stepdaughter. Cops came to his house & took him for questioning, but luckily didn't lay charges as they thought something wasn't right but he wasn't able to 'leave-town'. When he told me he was basically in tears...he told me that it was because he had handed out some strict punishment after getting a phone call from her bio-dad that she had been missing for a day, he & her mum went looking for her (her bio-dad was too stoned & drunk) & found her drunk, sexually active & passed out on the street.
She was made to live with her bio-dad (wtf?!) and it went on for a month until she came forward to the cops and admitted to lying to get back at him. As it turned out, she realised that her bio-dad didn't give a sh!t about her & what she thought was freedom he gave her, turned out being neglect.
With the media being corrupt & able to sway the legal system & public opinion, I'm not sure that we're ready to bring back the DP ( I think that contradicts what I've posted in the past, but hey - it's a different day!).
