How much does an e cig cost? $25-$35 evay reveals. And $10 for the liquid which I'm assuming would last days? A week or longer?
Where's the financial gain in that?

A prominent murdoch rag had a disgusting 2 week advertising campaign for the smoking lobby recently under the guise of "plain packaging does not work, see this independent research company's figures, so lets scrap it". Turns out data was from British American Tobacco Australia (BATA) and totally untrue.

Anyway front cover was "these 2 lovely young lasses spend $400 per week between them on ciggies".
Yes, $200 each per week ... up in smoke!!!



You're right in that e-cigs are cheaper, however they are still significant.
Your $35 ebay job would be rubbish to use, I'd say more like $200-400 per year to get & maintain good hardware and a similar amount for liquids.

I don't see how plain packaging Works. I would hazard a guess most people taking up smoking these days take it up due peer pressure. A doctor certainly not going to prescribe it due to a hard labour. In other words, somebody is going to be introduced to smoking by somebody that already has a packet. After that, it doesn't matter how well they are hidden away, how many closed doors You put them behind, or what you put on the packet, if you are going to buy cigs, you are going to by them.

Increase the legal age to purchase them, and price them out of existence.

disclaimer, I acknowledge that pricing doesn't always work either. I was going to give up smoking when the price reached 4 bucks a pack. I think when I finally did give them up, they were about $20 a pack

I have never been a smoker, but I would argue that it has removed brand awareness.

In my local hardware store they also sell a few groceries, and cigarettes. When they changed to plain packaging, I asked them if they had stopped selling cigarettes. No they hadn't, but unless you really looked you wouldn't notice them.

When I was a kid, people would smoke because the cool kids did. When this number drops, by whatever means, less people will smoke.

I am sure there were unethical shop keepers selling cigarettes individually to kids when I was at school. I guess this sort of thing would not stop, but if its a couple of dollars each it may.

Don't kid yourself (like addicts do) Any nico intake does NOT help give up cigs.

Patches are pretty ineffective and I would think the oral/habitual effect of e cigs only adds to nico/cig addiction.

Plus, despite having 'zero' fumes (according to an addict) I had a MASSIVE nico headache after sharing reasonably large space with someone chugging away on one.

They may have some nicotine, but they don't have the other 1000 posions

When exclusive on E cigs for a few weeks, my body, was going through usually withdrawning from the normal cigs, plus skipping most days, I Could tell after a few weeks on the E cigs, that it was doing much better than normal cigs

no smell, so can you them inside, that includes at work

the only negative appeared to be getting mouth ulcers, like a kid eating lollies

Well smart @rse, the dude smoked the e cig repetitiously for an hour in the same approx. 4 x 4m room I was in.
I know exactly how a nico headache feels and that's exactly what I got.
I can't guarantee his smoking implement was working correctly but that's what happened.

If you were there you may be able to offer a valid opinion.. or you could just offer a knobend attitude.

Funny thing about the e cig guy fouling our shared office space (it had a very strong odour) was that he was doing it to 'cut down' but as he felt he do this inside (which he can not) he partook far more often and was prolly increasing his addiction.

E cigarette forums will have the analysis of that article that you need.

Got my ecig thingo two months ago and have not touched a normal 'stink stick' since.

When I first got the e-cig I was puffing on it 8 hours a day. I have diluted the juice in half since the first week and forget to vape all the time now after two months, even forget where I left my e-cig.

They have definitely improved my life. The addiction to just pure nicotine compared to whatever the hell is in normal cigarettes is much different. After a cigarette I would feel moody and anxious while after an e-cig its more like a caffeine buzz. I spend about $5 a week on juice now at the most, so lets say $10 a week with equipment up grades. You could even spend less than $5 a week if you were to buy strong juice then "cut it".
