i understand there are plenty of angry drivers around and i've found more seem to be in normal family sedans than 4wd's but whatevs . my biggest gripe is the lone lycra fwit who thinks cycling down canning highway at peak hour in the morning instead of going 2km over to the river where they have their own cyclepath .

If he can ride on the road at peak hour stopping an entire lane why can't i drive along the river

To put this thread in the right context

This is the headstone of my trainer Rick Scarrott who was killed when a car plowed through around 13 of us one afternoon out training.

Yes, we were riding side by side two abreast and thankfully I was on the edge so my injuries were minor but a lot of my team mates weren't so lucky.

The car driver must've had some special skills to get us, as he had to come from the other side of the road to get us.

Back in the 70's there were no mobile phones so we spent a lot of time bleeding and screaming whilst spread all over the road waiting for the ambulances (we needed a lot of them).

The parents who drove there kids to training were greeted with a nice sight of all the carnage as they were the first on the scene, Including Ricks father.

40 years later, I can still remember watching the car coming towards us and I can still hear the screams.

In 2010, I had to go to the funeral of one of my customers, who was run over from behind whilst in a cycling lane next to an overtaking lane, he was 40 years old on the way home from work, hearing his primary school age daughter speak at the funeral was gut wrenching.

I now predominantly stick to cycle paths (where I can) and the self righteous lycra haters have no idea of the ramifications of their actions.

Cyclists are someones Mother, Father, Daughter, Son, Wife or Husband people need to be reminded of this occasionally.

works both ways ,i've been flattened by some ****ing moron ripping along the shared path along the freeway , sticking to my side of the path . not once did that muppet ring the bell . luckily for him it was a glancing blow and i fell onto the sand but could have gone the otherway if i was slammed face first into the path . The hate goes both ways .

That's fair enough, I ding my bell like a mad basket and slow down, It doesn't do well to scare a pedestrian, they jump randomely.

You are un-Australian

Which is worse than being called a c**t

Real Australians call their mates c**ts and people they don't know, Mate. C**t is a term of endearment in Australia.
