Try to get a 7-3, only couple months to go now and you'll appreciate it

Thinking the same thing. One job I am looking at is a government job with flextime. I used to work for the federal government with flextime and its great. Anyway this job can have you starting at seven AM. So if I worked through to three PM that would be seven and a half hours a day. So I'd probably work till four and build up the flex time and take a day off every few weeks.

However it would be nice to work hard at an interesting job, get paid well and then retire early. Maybe my wife will make so much money I can just say goodbye to the world of work and say hello to the world of full time windsurfing!

I was given this option at the beginning of 2007 and probably fortunately for us financially, I said no. Based on Sydney winds it would have been a waste of time anyway.

I worked from 7 to 3 during March and went sailing if there was any wind straight after. How do you cope? I was stuffed after 4 weeks of this.

Everyday was get up, sit in front of computer, have lunch, keep working until 3 and then go sailing until the wind dies or the sun started to set. Staying up for more than half an hour after dinner was a real struggle.

Ahh I miss those days...

Well, the landscape has changed a bit since Mr. Disc started this topic. Daylight savings is almost due to be voted on, which looks like it might come in finally (a poll on a popular news website shows 75% of respondents in favour), and the GFC has hit.

In light of the effects of the GFC, and following on from an earlier post with a link to opinions about relocating to Perth, I thought this might hold some interest to those who haven't found it on their own:

www.perthnow.com.au/

I've only just found it, and haven't read all the comments on it yet, but the story itself reflects my own opinion pretty closely.

Hope this isn't too political for SB Laurie?

Wow, blast from the past. For this and that reason we decided not to make the move. In the meantime the sh!t has hit the fan in the financial markets and now the real economy.

So its been for the best. Plus the weather in Sydney this summer hasn't been too bad at all
