Do you want discussion?

Who should be the new host of Today - channel 9's flagship program after tipping point?

I might even watch if he was the host.

Somebody who is smart, witty, affable, both universally loved and respected. Somebody who knows alot about many things and can articulate elegantly appealing to both the elite and the commoner. Somebody who understands history, economics, politics, small carburettors and the foibles of humanity, yet can say it like it is without inducing hatred and contempt. Somebody universally adored for both their intellect and humility.

Clearly the only candidate is Carantoc.

"The rise of creator media has been a boon for those who peddle bull****, as bias and bull**** are core features of what wins our attention on social media.

It turns out that when you migrate our entire news media ecosystem on to platforms that map on to our emotional wiring, you are inadvertently building Karl’s podcast. To be successful in this attention economy, the platforms have decided that anger, outrage and controversy rules. That negative attention counts as much as positive engagement. That one must act like a cancelled free speech warrior, even when one may not be. In other words, it’s the algorithms, stupid."

Or

People are sick of leftard BS from the guardian, ABC, channel 9,10,7,sbs the AFL the NRL, every newspaper, the conversation and MSN.

Btw your guardian article seems to be focusing on "negative attention" as much as every other platform.

I think the guardian and all other established msm platforms are feeling like their business models are under threat from podcasters and other independant journalists,

Listening to the guardian bleat about the algorithm like its some sort of biased overlord dragging people away is rubbish. The algorithm works the same way for the left as it does for right.

"Trust in science has collapsed — right? The evidence says that it’s not necessarily so. From a global perspective, public trust in science and scientists is high. Trust has dropped in certain groups, notably among Republican-leaning people in the United States. And research in the United Kingdom shows that the proportion of people who have “a lot” of trust in science tends to be lower among politically right-leaning groups than those on the left. In many countries, people are also increasingly questioning definitive evidence on divisive issues such as vaccines, partly because scientific information is being drowned out online."

No idea what trust in science or lack there-of has to do with Channel Nine's Tipping Point, Today show or Karl Stefanovic.

Maybe, I suppose, the thrill of predicting what is gonna fall during Tipping Point might amuse some, but it ain't quite the same as analysing, say, a multi-storey building tipping after being struck by an aeroplane or two.

This whole thread seems to be unravelling, slowly, strand-by-strand.

The initial claim was that Today is Channel Nine's top rating show after Tipping Point. But even Channel Nine says this isn't so. Apparently Channel Nine claims it's top rating shows are NRL Grand Final, Married at First Sight, The Block, A Current Affair, Golden Bachelor and Love Island Australia. When you have quality entertainment like that who even needs Karl ?

I know... why doesn't channel 9 apoint Jillian Segal for the Today show anchor. This antisemitism thing really need far more attention.

It's hardly mentioned anymore.

Is she Aussie enough though ?

If we want to bring about a utopian monoculture, present news and current affairs in a lighthearted way, and deliver cutting political and social righteousness not seen since the last days of The Project, then perhaps Bush Barbie could be the perfect replacement ?

The problem for Channel 9's Today program is that Australia has a lack of young unashamed monoculture, zionist, pedophile billionaires . Someone who can relate with their audience.

I was thinking John Michael Houson, Mark Latham, Alan Jones, or that guy from 'Hey Dad' but they are too old. Plenty of contenders with some suitable attributes.

If there was someone young with all those attributes- that would work for them.

Given the alleged financial troubles of Australian commercial TV networks why wouldn't Channel Nine combined their top shows into one super-show ?

It could be re-branded Today's Tipping Point, hosted by somebody who fell over the edge long, long ago - the one and only Barnaby Joyce.

You wouldn't find Sarah Abo stepping out of line - Barnaby would make sure everyone was SID-DOWN.

Combining Channel Nine's flagship morning program Today with the high-stakes arcade game show Tipping Point would not work due to major clashes in tone, target audiences, and format. Here are the reasons why Today's Tipping Point would fail:

Clashing formats: Today is a fast-paced news and current affairs show, whereas Tipping Point is a relaxed, puzzle-based game show. You cannot easily transition from a serious political interview to dropping physical coins into a moving machine.

Conflicting audiences: Today attracts viewers who want weather, finance, and breaking world news while getting ready for work. A game show appeals to people who want light entertainment, meaning both audiences would become frustrated.

Unpredictable scheduling: Breakfast TV requires a strict clock to ensure people see the news on time. Game shows depend on the unpredictable length of rounds and contestants' choices, which would ruin the morning news schedule.

Format pacing: Today covers a wide mix of short, 3-to-5 minute segments. A game show requires sustained focus on one set of contestants for half an hour or more, causing the morning flow to drag.

Unsuitable host personality: Barnaby Joyce is a polarising, highly partisan political figure. A morning show relies on broad, friendly, and impartial hosts who act as neutral companions for the whole family, while game shows require highly energetic, impartial emcees.

See MSN, this is where AI fails, in the nuanced world of art and human emotion.

Clashing formats ? You gotta think outside of the box. Today's Tipping Point would be a celebration of both formats. I can see round 1 involving high profile politicians and industry leaders being given three discs, each with the name of a famous Aussie on them and then having to drop them into the "tipping point" from whence the disc would, controlled only by luck, bounce out into one of the three tray marked shag, marry, date. The high profile politician or industry leader would then have to SID-DOWN and discuss.

Conflicting Audiences ? I didn't think either show had much of one anyway, they have all left to listen to Karl or Kyle podcasts. This would create a whole new audience.

Unpredictable Scheduling and Format Pacing ? This new show runs 24 hour. 24 hour TV is where it is at.

Unsuitable host ? If you need an emcee then maybe the great Aussie Elle MCpherson, or somebody who doesn't make too many controversial public statements like Margaret Court. Perhaps Bar-Joy could host Today's Tipping Point After Dark, broadcast after the 9pm watershed ?

Given the importance of this question to Australian national identity perhaps a better place to pose it than Seabreeze.com.au/forums would be in the forthcoming National Census 2026 ?

Right under the question :
#49) Are you or have you ever been an antisemite
could be the question
#50) Who should be the new host of Today - channel 9's flagship program after tipping point?

I feel a question of more significance and urgency for Seabreeze.com.au/forums users is :

Who should replace Bonominator as Carantoc's biatch on Seabreeze.com.au's flagship forum?

Meh, then again I think maybees we all know the answer to that already.

Umm, yeah. I wasn't expecting to be sent a bill for each post somebody makes on this forum. I thought everything on here was made freely and placed into public knowledge.

Although it has been a while since we were all enlightened with old-skool Bono-answers on these forums.

Why ? You about to dosh some out ?

Why ?

And why quote somebody as obscure as an Irish architect ? I'd suspect you'd have to practically be an architect to even know who she was.

In a thread about who the next host of Channel Nine's Today show should be why not quote the amazing wisdom of an esteemed TV producer ?

Fred Silverman on stopping ratings drops: "The only way to stop the erosion in network television is to come up with shows that are very popular."
