globalcrimefeed.com/cancel-culture-at-metlife-how-macklemore-and-ed-sheerans-tour-controversy-divided-music-fans/

The public backlash surrounding the situation came from both sides, creating a major storm for everyone involved. Initially, pro-Israel advocacy groups, venue owners (like Patriots owner Robert Kraft), and critics pushed back against Macklemore, accusing him of using a mainstream pop concert as an unprompted activist platform and directing polarizing statements at Jewish audience members. However, once venue owners forced Macklemore off the tour, a massive counter-backlash hit Ed Sheeran. Fans, activists, and prominent musicians accused Sheeran of caving to billionaire venue pressure and censoring free speech, leading to all of his remaining opening acts withdrawing from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore and widespread criticism of Sheeran’s attempt to maintain a neutral stance.

So a short summary, Macklemore chanted Free Palestine and gave a speech, then Ed Sheeran felt pressure from billionaire friends and stadium owner Robert Kraft to kick him out or the tours will be cancelled. Ed kicks him out, now people are accusing him of being complicit with genocide and censoring free speech. He has been boycotted from many radio stations and even ticket prices are at an all time low.

Thoughts on the backlash? Too extreme or well deserved?

Free speech is a right that you should be able to express

On your own time

When your employed and working you keep your politics, religion, sexual fantasies and whatever else your into, to yourself.

Macklemore shouldn't be sacked for political views, but Ed Sheeran's tour is not there to give him a platform to express them. Try going to work ar woolies and start promoting your political or religious views to the customers, you will get sacked.

As for backlash that just typical lefty hysteria amd hypocrisy. If someone got sacked for wearing a MAGA hat on stage there would no backlash crying about free speech.

So its simple, he got sacked for breaching his employers policy.

Doesn't even matter that we don't get news about whats happening in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iran anymore. The censorship by the zionist deep state is just so obvious now.

I'm looking forward to the release of NAZA in a few days.

And I'm feeling GOOD

The right claim it is about free speech. Until you express an opinion that does not align with their views.

Ok , so you would think its a right to free speech if Israel Folau did a bit of preaching at half time in a test match.

The backlash, from what I understand, with Ed is he chose to align himself with the Epstein class over his friendship.

His booking agent and the venue owner are both in the Epstein files and have met with genocidal Netanyahu. Ed is a buisnessman and chose to appease them over his longtime friend and collaborator Macklemore.

If Ed did what Green Day did back in the 90s he would have sold out stadiums and thousands more fans, but instead he's a venal and odious mogul who tried, and failed, to protect his stadium profit margins.

Poor Ed. HAHAHA

Doesn't sound like Macklemore is a very good friend putting Sheeran in that position.

If just played the gig and kept his terrorist sympathies to himself at work they would probably still be mates.

Sounds like he's a fwit.

Never heard of him before this. He got his message across, unwittingly exposed the zionist, epstein class willingness to censor the arts, and gained thousands of new followers in the process. Not bad for someone with little talent.

I don't see this backlash against Ed as left vrs right or Israel vrs the rest of the world. It's more about Ed being exposed as a materialistic sellout.

Its ironic that you say Macklemore should be complicit but you think the police in England should have spoken out about those Pakistanis you bang on about at every opportunity.

I see more than one fwit. Ed is one o f them.

Well whats you point because

Its always leftys like antifa, trans activists or hamas supporters etc organising counter protests to shout down opposing political views

One Nation cannot hold an event without a pack of leftards doing there best to shut down democracy

Even the lefty labor government is doing its best to legislate againt free speech .....again

Does all that just go unnoticed by you. Take your blinkers off.

People have a democratic right to protest. What's wrong with you?

Did you take too many angry pills again?

A counter protest is held to stop or disrupt a protest and thereby denign or inhibit peoples democratic rights.

People have a democratic right to protest.

Macklemore had a right to protest. The zionist epstein class venue owner has rights to try and censor art at his venues. Ed had a right to say if Macklemore won't play I don't play.

And the people voted with their feet and Macklemore won.

If you don't believe in democracy just come out and say it.

What a load of crap. Right to protest does not exist at your paid employment.
if ya mates knew Epstein it’s irrelevant.

this whole thread is typical of the polarised view from social media sources only. Rise above your feed (that’s aimed at both sides of this debate)

unless any of you are actually privy to the contractual agreements in that situation? Or have actually spoken to people from both sides of that horrid conflict that’s murdering innocents? Both sides. The enemy is hate. Not Jews or Muslims

Opinions on the backlash?

He got backlash from his fans because he kicked Macklemore off his tour.

Apparently Eds fans and a large number of other artists think he made the wrong call.

That is not a minority of "leftys" cancelling him.
That is his own audience and peers choosing to make their own statements regarding his actions.

You have a right to protest in paid employment. But I'd imagine, from some of your comments here, you never would.

As for the Ed Sheeran debate, it's very clear what happened.

Folau got sacked for posting religious views on a personal social media account that had no links to his employer.

From what your saying he should have been within his rights to express his views even when he was playing test match.

The original author invited opinions , not facts, on the Ed Sheeran kerfuffle. So I expressed an opinion based on what I heard.

And pretty sure I didn't say macklemore should have been sacked for his views

And pretty sure I started off with stating he has a right to express political views

I just said, not on an employers time which I think you agree with, so I am hardly taking a partisan position based on left or right.

My opinion is based on what I think, not what the algorithm feeds me.

Folau was sacked for breaching Rugby Australias code of conduct (questionable though that decision may have been).

Bit different to Macklemore being booted from a tour because future venues decided they didn't like his content, not the because Ed Sheeran (tour headline and presumably "principal" of the tour) did not like Macklemores content. No mention of Macklemore breaching any of the tours code of conduct or similar reasons.

Msn said you have a right to protest at work. I was just asking if he applies that principle to all people or just the ones he agrees with.

Sure, but if your employer/workplace has rules/regulations prohibiting certain actions and behaviours and you have signed a contract acknowledging those rules and agree to abide by them?

That usually means you have waived those rights in that workplace and potentially even as a representative of that workplace when you are not actually working.

Just ask your kid in the RAN about some of the conduct and behaviours that the Navy and ADF would consider dismissable offences.

Its a tricky one.

But I am pretty sure if, hypothetically, I were to take my kids to see an Ed Sheeran concert, the last thing I'd want is to watch Ed belt out a rendition of Galway Girl.

I'd much rather have a two-bit support act lecture the kids on the morals of the middle east.

But I find it kinda weird that up until now nobody has realised that peace could be brought to the world if middle class white dudes from the west coast of the USA pretended to be rappers and signaled their virtue through performative activism.

Crazy eh ?
