no you don't get it, nor do many of your contemporaries

Yep I thought I was bullet proof and knew what I was doing once .I was a great driver and got mums HR up to 100 miles an hour on the straight .That was the legal limit once when there was no limit so why not me .it wasn't fair
One night I was rally driving using my ever increasing powers behind the wheel and misjudjed a bend nearly killing all of my mates . The 'god Damn" cop got out of bed and helped us recover .I learn't a lesson I've never forgotton ,and yes most of us thought just the way you think at the moment, unfortunately many of us didn't survive to grow up

why does that explain why young people die in cars
i am confident in the way i drive? if i wasnt then i shouldnt be on the dam road in the first place

i dont speed, got cought speeding because thought the limit was 80
im sure most of you have had speeding fines or been guilty of going over even if you havnt

but float just confused what point of that quote is the reason why young people die? the part i stated that speed limits get lowered? thats a fact, because i said peple can go 10 ks over without crashing? they can and most normally do doesnt mean i do or all young people do

happy new year

In the CFS I attended 8 vehicle accidents last year. 7 of the 8 were were young drivers who use this area of the hills as a race track. As said before, over confidence and under ability will be the end of you.

Oh BTW all of the cops I work with around here are great guys, but they get really p'ed off when they contunually get called to exactly the same type of incident and then cop a mouthfull from these dh's.

Pull your head in, drive carefully. If you're on "P" plates your not that good, no matter what you think!!

Sorry, but this really makes me angry. I'll get off my soapbox now.

my responce "you feel better now you dickhead

WOW you were lucky. Cops could have charged you with offensive language. Another $660(ish, depends on state) fine

Driving a skyline you will always get the 3rd degree by cops if/when they pull you over. I only drove a skyline for a month and figured that out in the first week when I got pulled over 3 times. After a month got my RX7 back, boy did I miss it, better car and not a classic boy racer car so cops didn't look at it twice at it.

Glad to see you learned lesson. If you are >10% over the speed limit nothing you can do or say will change the situation so suck it up and take the penaltiy, all you can do is make things worse.

Oh and the death rate per capita on the roads has decreased every year for the last 20 years. Why is a completely up to debate. Better roads and cars IMHO with decrease in speed limites having a incrediably minor effect. Still not a good reason to speed.

"Hmm perhaps this explains why so many young people die in cars"
Actually the fatality rate for 16 to 24 has actually increased at approx same rate as 25+ to. Just think they are getting more media than when I was in that age group (early 90's) because many of deaths are stupider. Like the kid who had his P plate and his parents bought him a WRX Sti and first we he had it he killed himself and 2 others.
I have been there as a new driver with an over powered car, my first car was a valiant charger. I was so lucky I never killed myself in that car.

just for the record i dont think i am bullet proof i lost a mate last year when he hit a tree so i know we are not

that isnt why young people die i know they do i wasnt saying they dont, i was just wondering where he found it in what i said.

its not they think they wont die its that they just dont really care, they speed because i guess its the rush of the possibility of dieing, the fact that its dangerous is why they do it.

just because i think a lot of you reckon i am like that, im not i did like for a month when i got my license 2 years ago but that gets boring and exspensive.

i did learn my lesson. i knew as soon as i said it i was the dickhead, but the things you o in the heat of the moment aye.

The only time i ever speed is when im heading to the beach for a kite!

We have a local cop that kites down here (hi pete) good bloke, we just try to stay upwind of him for our own safety

Desmond wasnt a good idea to vent on a forum to a bunch of 30 plus year olds. We have all been there done that with pedal to the metal. got to admit some of the speed limits realy do suck!

Yeah some cars they do pick on. My first car was a lowered commodore V8, use to get pulled over all the time even when doing everything right. Had the engine checked, rbt and drug searches done all the time. Just talked politely every time it happened and never got a fine. Now have a 4x4 and never get pulled over.

Many of my mates have back chated cops and always get a yellow sticker, its just not worth it.

ok i think both sides here have a point.
Dont break the law u wont get in the S*&t or die from your own stupididty. simple
But some cops really do have a chip on their shoulder, sometimes for good reason but sometimes not.
If u think your being treated unfairly ask for the coppers name and badge number if he/she is really being a d*&k they will probably back off anyway cos they know they are in the wrong and if u persue it they can get deep in the proverbial. if your just being a smart arse your complaint will be ignored and u get what's comming to u
