I'm all for it , but isn't this a racist statment?
If we have (or had) a white mans round ,( in football) would we not be faced with huge amounts of criticism?
Great to recognise how well these(correct terminoligy , Indigenous) guys play footy , but it's all wrong!!
It's ,,,I think ,time to stop the political correctness, and make us all the same ....

That was one reason Lionel Rose was such a legend in my book, he wouldn't differ between any race or colour, despite some real pressure to do so publicly. One of the true Aussie legends

So Cassa, bit like Cathy Freeman lighting the Olympic torch thingo at the Olympics when all she had done is won a race and come third in another couple (at Olympic level I mean) - to the exclusion of people like Dawn Fraser and other sportswomen who won heaps?

Doctor, where did he say he was better than anyone else?

All he said was having an indigenous round in footy is OK, but having a white man's only game would be frowned upon - yet we are supposed to be equal

Well we are all equal............ but some people are more equal and that resume it! The story of that social engineer who decided that no more black and white.... all will be grey, all the do-gooders had a big convention about it and the resolution was that it would be too difficult having everybody grey and we should have dark grey and pale grey............. Just to say that we maybe all equal but still will be different!

Personally i think anything that celebrates Indigenous culture, Indigenous achievement and shows the next generation what can be achieved is good.

I mean Australia promotes Indigenous culture on the world in tourism ads, olympic games, Qantas aircraft etc etc etc why not a footy round?

Well, we're not the same are we. White mans culture has dominated and subjugated black culture. I grew up in Tas and the history of the persecution and annihilation of the Aboriginal people is a disgrace. This is not ancient history and the implications of what happened years ago are to be seen everywhere. But why do I need to say this Cassa you KNOW this, don't you. You know about Aust. history, I know its painfull, but that's how it is. So acknowledge the truth of the situation.

PR makes the point. Thats exactly what it is...a celebration of the indigenous players our game...

Cassa - i think you might be missing the point...it's not like its 'blacks only' round. They aren't saying only the blacks can play this weekend the whities have to sit on the bench. It's a promotion/marketing exercise for the AFL. There's no racist element to it...it's widely embraced by every club and player.

It's designed to highlight the indifference's of cultures when it comes to our game.
I think you have to realise that as much we say we should get over the 'historical racism' there are alot of indigenous people and communities who haven't and can't. The AFL are trying to promote and have been for a very long time, our game, as maybe a means for these people to get passed it in some way.

Cassa, you can't just flip an argument like that. The basis of your argument comes from the premise that there is equality to start off with. That clearly is the point and you have acknowledged it above in your comments about the history of Aboriginal Australia. So trying to reverse an argument, then claiming to be the victim of racism doesn't hold water.

Cassa you keep making this point of a 'black' round. I'm watching the Footy now and I can see plenty of whiteys on the field. it's a celebration round acknowledging the indigenous its not an 'exclusive race' event!

You should ask a black bloke what they think of that.

Black people i've met really don't give a sh!t. In fact the Black guys i hung out with wanted to be known as Black, the Aboriginals i have spent time with like to be known as Blackfellas.

Who decides when 'black' is politically incorrect, Whites maybe?

Anyway the more time you spend with 'black' people the less it becomes an issue, in fact i found you dont even notice after a while....LOL
