8psi is the recomended inflation pressure. Stick to it. I'm still amazed at how well my REV sits in even the most narly winds, sheeted, depowered, or any which way.
Look at your bridle lines, not much else can change. If you've had pulley problems the rear running line will twist up & shorten. By as much as 200mm on mine! That's got to have an effect.

Please, no hype over the new model. I've still got that LINK taste in my mouth.

Check your pressure guage too. I'm onto my third one in less than a year.

Does Slingshot do a warranty on the gauges? My first one split the housing, and now my second one seems to be out by about 2-3 psi.

I usually stick atleast 9 psi into my 9 when its howling. The 13 I stick to reccomended 8psi.

As for line twisting, remove those neoprene covers on the wingtip pulley. It will stop that line from twisting but creates a good spot for bridle lines to tangle. I havent had a tangle yet tho (fingers crossed)

Pressure guages???? im pretty sure once you have gone through 3 you should be able to tell what pressure your kite is at. Just make sure its nice and hard and it will fly fine. Also you will be able to pump easier without the guage.

yep, pressure gauges belong in the same category as anemometers

Yeh your right but they are great if your giving someone a lesson. "pump it up to 8 psi" is a no-brainer for a noob with a pressure guage.

Count number of pumps to inflate as an added check. 50 for 9m, 80 for 13.
You'll get a feel for it & know if gauge is playing up.
& I like my gauge - does that make me a girl or something?

Got it suss mate I can feel when its pumped up enough. Thats how I noticed the gauges were dodgy.

1 gauge is definately 2-3 psi out, and I reckon the other just went yesterday and is about 2 psi out.

The gauges worked perfect for about 20-30 sessions

COL they are cheap plastic crap and shouldn't be relied on is all i'm saying. its more accurate to pump up by feel.
same with anemometers; you should learn to look at the water and feel the breeze on your face to work out what kite size you need, not rely on some dodgy wind gauge.

Hey Stamp,

That maye true for the el cheapo anemometers, but if you invest in a quality one, you'll get years of accurate service from it. We use, stock, and sell the Kaindl Windtronics 2, anemometers and they are excellent.

I bought Tina one about three years ago and it has since found it's way into the school and gets used a lot and cops a bit of a flogging in the trailer, but it still works beautifully and remains accurate. Still also on the same initial battery too!

I agree though on the cheapy ones

Good winds,

Has any one else had issues with their REV's not being able to hold a stable leading edge shape, when loading, even when super inflated? I have had issues particulalry with the 9 where under load in gusts or when really loading up the lines the kite starts to jellyfish along the leading edge resulting in unstable flying. This was paricularly evident in frontal or gusty consitions which it to be expected i guess but also occured when loading up for jumps. I am now running at 7 bar on the slingy pump even 8 on occasion but was wondering if there have been any refinements in the leading edge regitiy / stability on the 09 REV?

Pump it up hard (I go 10+ psi)
Check your lines are all even.
Remove any knots in your lines.
Make sure all bridal pullys are free of sand and are spinning free.
I like to attach my front lines to the 3rd knot(shortest distance) & the back ones to 2nd knot (Middle).
if you are still having problems bring it to me and i will sort it out for you.

I haven’t had any problems with this happening till my last few kites on the 9, even with you last week Choicey my kite got a wobble up? And on Saturday it happened a couple of times? I pump mine up pretty hard and I’m confident my lines are ok. I have been meaning to get some new pulleys for the bridle (something better in quality) because mine have seized a few times and has twisted the bridle. I also noticed lately that even when I’m fully powdered the trailing edge of my 9 often has an area that flaps. Could this be related?

I personally think the orange background on this year's bar is outstanding.

The website said that the bar has a softer, larger diameter grip and that stainless centre has a larger diameter hole to reduce line wear.
