Fair few crew at PW today, rode for an hour or 3. Was ok/good. Few dangerous kooks out there though, you know who you are. Know your limits... Who on seabreeze rode there today...

Had a good hour or so.

I would have to agree with you Space that kiting too far downwind is asking for trouble! There is a boat channel next to the Yacht Club which is off limits to kiting. Surely every once in a while someone gets caught down there, but let us all please try and keep it to an absolute minimum. Usually it is some of the best riders in the country down there and they are dam capable people who are most interested in preserving access.

PW is flucky and dangerous (rocks, on/off wind, people, boats etc.). Everyone should be able to enjoy the magic of PW; and it is selfish and inconsiderate behaviour to take risks beyond one's ability.

PW can punish.

I was there.

Dont know why beginners go there. It is such a tough place to kite gusty rocks, limited space etc etc Stuff up and your walking for three-four hours wet and cold....further up river, Attadale foreshore is safer, only trees to get caught up in there.

Treat the place with respect, if your going to come in at the end of the spit, come in walk back up then go again. Dont play in the Boat channel dont go too far into the no wind zone and everything that Gruzitskinski says.
Act like a dick and Pt walter will treat you accordingly.

And by far the biggest and longest boost goes to Spacey, a very rare double gust I believe.

I was there approx 2-4 for only my second ever visit (I usually stick to ocean/waves), didn't have any dramas as I stayed well upwind, mainly on the onshore side. Have to agree though its not the place for beginners wind is very gusty, on and off, not sure if anyone ended up on the otherside of the river but it certainly looked like some were struggling.

Help. Here's a huge question for Perth kiters at the moment: do I take Thursday off this week & risk the green arrows don't develop/don't last, or wait for Friday & the risk of being blown to buggery & back in the forecast storms???

Opinions please?

Kited eddies at Lano on an easterly on monday.

Small swell but clean waves and a good cross-off wind direction (although pretty gusty). Managed a few waves before downing the kite and the lines twisting up. I thought I was absolutely done for but managed to get it all together (without any problems with the lines!!) before coming in.

It definitely can be done, but I strongly recommend a boat!

Cheers

I truly enjoyed kiting today...recon out of the 5 days, only today was a green arrow day.

None of us work, we live to kite and eat cat food.

Nice photos Reli man.

Is there still the Pt Walter spit bit where it gets narrow about half way down?

Jumped it going from wind ward side to down river side.

then saw all the rocks and crap in a few inches of water.

went back quick edged for return jump. Board sucked to bottom.

front side slide to blind arse butt punch of rock.

I knew deep down I was a freestyler at heart
