Skid - lexan sounds interesting. I have some 3mm stuff in the house. Looks like a durable option if it was thicker. My initial home made jobs were fibreglass - mostly glass though, so came out brittle and got eaten on easily on Wello rocks.
coxy31 - I have a past life selling pneumatics so know all about venturi vacuum ejectors. As I don't have a compressor the fridge motor option was looking better to me.
crakas - My first home made board was solid 12mm ply, almost straight on each side. Weird riding stance with the straight edges and it weighed 4.5kg which sucked when you flew anywhere with it - on the water as well as in aircraft!
kevinwd1 - did you put any concave in the ply? My first one made this way is 45cm wide and has triple concave. Each "tunnel" was supposed to be about 5mm deep but I stuffed up the press together process and one is about 3mm, then 4 and then 5mm. Not snapped yet but I dont do very big jumps and I did pump some more resin in around the edges when I realised it hadn't laminated together that well. Weighs about 2.8 kg.
www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=4800www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=4799I shaped the core of this one by laminating it with some dowell in place under the foam. Found it fiddly to taper the edges of the foam evenly so current project was shaped using belt sander initially then by hand. Seemed easier.
woka - what is a mornington?
