Is anyone interested in a late August trip? nows the time to say!

Ill give you a heads up that on the 15th of August is the Brisbane Ekka holiday notoriously known for gusty south westerly freezing cold CRAP!

This mean there is a public holiday on wednesday 15th of August perhaps people can take 2 days off work on Mon 13th-Tuesday14th or Thurday 16th-Friday17th then you get one full weekend either side that is 5 days free to kite with 3 working days off.

Also thanks for the Green Island information am I able to upload a hyperlink so that everyone can see the map online?

Not bad coming from the man of leisure himself. Indo... unbelievable!!!!

Be good to catch up again and have a kite together. Certainly keen for a few reef trips.

I've had a great response and feedback on people that are interested and from the information that I have gathered mid to late august is what suits MOST people rather then July. I know some people have mentioned that they prefer other times. My suggestion for this is that multiple groups are organised to go up at different intervals.

We have a safari trip going up 24-28th August (details at website), could merge with yours to have more fun Mike. Plan to hook up with local shops/schools so they can show us around. We'll be hiring minibus/van/cars dependent on numbers, so we go to different spots to kite everyday. No wind we go sight seeing, cable park and pub crawl in d eve

Ski safari first end of this month tho

Don't worry about not knowing anyone, I know the local guys that are frequenting the beach will say hello and help you out where needed at Yorkey's. Mind you the local numbers have really dwindled lately as has the normal amount of visiting kiters.

Wind is forecast 20+ knots from tomorrow for the rest of the week so hopefully we get some it for a change.

Hey guys!
If Mike isnt going anymore maybe we can just organize something ourselves?

I'll prb stay at the backpackers and catch a bus to the beach most of the time.
But when you guys wanna go up we could book accom at yorkey's while we're up there or even port douglas. I found a cheap car hire place that hires out out Station wagons from 30/day...

Let me know what you guys think. Thinking of flying up next week.... hopefully my busted shoulder will recover by then!!!:P

One group has already done the Cairns trip staying in luxury at the Sofitel for 3 nights. Report back was that there was good wind for the full three days but didn't make it out to Green Island.

There's still plans for a crew to go in the second half of August after the Ekka period.

Some kiters have just come back from Vietnam...not really any wind but definately going back after February they reackon because its cheap and pretty cool...cheaper then a trip in OZ.

Wind is finally here and yesterday was great The peanut gallery was working over time. There will be plenty of sore bodies today. No such thing as easing into it. Looks like there will be no rest for a while though with constant winds forecast for the next week. Hope I haven't jinxed it.

Hasn't been much here in Cairns windwise the last couple of weeks. Got a mate coming over from Hong Kong so looking at going out to Green Island Saturday 22nd and/or Monday 24th. Anyone interested? (Can't go Sunday though as I'm getting married!)
