My answer from this day is "NO!"

Seriously though $40 bucks a pop I am done!

I have had 2 pumps stolen while I was riding this season
I regularly find my pump out of my kite bag 50M up the beach
I find my pump only pumps one way

Anyone else feeling this?

... yep!

Took 2 brand new never used pumps away on holidays, day one a euro asked, 'can I use your pump, I didn't bring one'. Ummm,,,,, yeah ok (big mistake!). Later that day I find the pump broken and left exactly where the douche was pumping up. I went to rig up another kite, found my other pump was gone. WTF, did that f@cking prick take my pump???? I spent the rest of my trip guarding my dodgey fixed up pump!

Mind you karma must have seen what went on, I found an Ozone pump, and for 3 days I lugged this thing around asking every one, who owns it. No one owned it and I ended up taking it home,,,, and its still going, 7 months later. Funny thing, the pump looked like crap but the damn the thing worked great!! Ironic hey!

So none of you guys has ever forgotten your pump, or asked to borrow somebody's huh? Never? I hear ya when you say douchebags use it and either leave it laying on the sand , or take it. That's just not on. But c'mon, it's supposed to be a community. I've lent mine many times before and appreciate when someone does the same in return. Douchebags are douchebags, don't paint everyone with the same brush.

+1 beebee, this "community" is getting grumpier. We all have forgotten our pumps and were glad some kindred soul spared his... However I understand the frustration of getting it broken, stolen and it sucks that peeps don't own up to it. I just find it sad to put everyone in the same boat.

Do yourself a favour and stop buying kiting brands. Get down to Kmart or Target. $15 for an identical no name pump (BYO kiting stickers! , No Cabrinha attachments)

I'm happy for anyone to borrow my pump, even if they just grab it while I'm out on the water. Hey, it's only a pump...

Id trade my girlfriend for a second hand pump. Atleast the pump results in me getting some action and gets my end wet

Do lend people your pump. One day you will forget or yours will break. It's a rule of the sea like rescuing people.

Don't leave your sh.t lying around on the beach. It gets in the way and it's your own fault if it gets stolen.

And when I was at school people would always ask to borrow my eraser! Sooooo annoying!

More than happy to lend mine out.

Once upon a time I turned up, only one other kiter just getting in his car, realised I forgot my pump, ask to quickly use his. He says 'sure, here's my address, I've gotta run but drop it of when you're done'! If I'm ever on jury duty and he turns up you can bet ill be pushing to get him off.

serioussly i cant understand even contemplating going kiting without taking a pump??? i would understand a brain fart every now and then by someone who forget to bring a pump and would gladly lend mine, but i would expect it to be returned straight away and clean and in a working condition, and when i travel o/s sure i dont bother taking one, as my first stop is the local hardware store or kite shop and i spend the huge $40 it might cost me to get one, spend some cash you tight ass, you wouldnt blink an eye at spending some cash on your E's, dope or grog!!!, hmm maybe you guys who get asked all the time should have a special euro/backpacker pump set aside which is filled with glass shavings, cruel, but would be funny to watch, and they would never ask again!

I had a Euro Windsurfer borrow mine the other day....

After he pumped up his camper mattress he did return it.

Total misuse tho. But no damage...

so RPM instead of the suggested (and whole point of this thread ) "NO!"
you have cleverly thought up your alternative suggested response of. . .

Say No..

ingenious !

that said on two separate occasions flying overseas to kite i have made it to the beach to find the pump damaged from transit most likely the baggage handlers, I have had to borrow one - and been very grateful i then bought one asap after the session but i might have missed a days flying without borrowing one
and anyone who travels anywhere away for a kiting trip in australia or overseas should be able to appreciate how much every day (and kiting session) counts we have enough limiting factors already - wind/tides etc...

I'll keep saying yes and spreading the good Karma
even to those devil worshiping, littering, smelly, hairy, secret spot stealing, trouble making, girlfriend snatching, scary looking and weird sounding euro kiters we keep hearing so much about (did i miss out any details)

Lots of angry people.

I lend my pump while i'm setting up. Then everything that i'm not using gets stashed back in my car and i ride.

Calling a stranger a mate, perplexes me. 'Can i borrow your pump Mate' is also poor English and impolite. Firstly i may share a common sport but that does not mean i am your mate. Secondly, where are your manners. So unless you say 'May i borrow your pump please' I should be inclined to send your hide back to school and carry on with my day.
