... windsurfing have a forum section called "Wave Sailing". I would like to view, post and have all the directional crew in one place to help promote this style of kitesurfing.

Can it happen?

Great idea DaFinchy, from what I have seen on the SB lately - non surf/directional riders would be happy with this outcome.

this is a good idea, but it shouldn't be limited to strapless it should include all wave riding styles with a kite. (strapless, strapped directionals, mutants, surf TT's and skim) plus any other craft in the surf.

I have ZERO interest in reading posts about dangly dick tricks by guys wearing boots, and boardies over their wetsuits. Really wave riding and wakestyle are two seperate sports.

Also kite racing already has its own category so the precedent has been set.

So you want a seperate forum for a diffrent sport called

There are open source modules out there to start your own forum, just like the sport

The other forum (KF) has a section called Wave Kite, I think it would be great to have something like that on here as well.

You have been very quiet on this one Laurie.

I think a directional forum would be good - it may balance out some of the utterly directionless stuff.

i reckon keep everything as it is, there is a enough noise to filter out already without having to look at more sections. Maybe I just miss the days that most kiters did or were interested in all disciplines of the day, you didn't have the choice to buy a "specialist kite" or board that made you a primarily "one style" rider, and everyone was stoked with whatever was going down.

We need more sub sections:

Goofyriders with straps
Goofy riders strapless
Natural riders with straps
Natural riders strapless

and then divided into subsections if you ride in winter or summer left handers righthanders, groundswell, windwaves, reefbreaks, sandbanks, eastcoast, west coast, euros, catholics, protestant, kite on drugs on piss, softwax, hard wax, epoxyboards, polyesterboards, fish, gun, quad, thruster, fin less, toothless, bald, or naked surfing just as a start.

Dont forget the freestylers, the wakestylers, old school and freeriders as well
And what about people that do freestyle in the waves.

Allowing TTs would bring in a whole stream of new devotees who eventually would see that directional is the REAL THING, after a taste of the waves on what they already know and a bit a peer group pressure.

I don't mind the racers having a different section, there's a lot to discuss about which kit will more likely help you reach the podium and what crash diet to go on before events that are likely to be lighter wind. Oh, and how to remortgage your house for next years kit.. stuff like that....

"Really wave riding and wakestyle are two seperate sports." I can't think of anything more progressive than wakestying while riding waves.
