I think out of the ten or so original Yeppoon guys that started around the same time as me there are only two of the guys and me left, the rest have quit for more wife/family time.. As Rowdy said, we used to all just turn up to the same beach at the same time everytime it was windy because it was guaranteed everyone else would already be there or be on there.. Such good memories from the old days of kiting

Hey Jamie Lee

Good to see you are still getting into the kiting .Is Andrew still gettin out there .I had a great time when I visited and appeciated the spots ,the friendly people and the cammeradirie .Loved the downwinder we did when I was there .What a beautiful part of the world you guys have .

Yeah still getting into it as much as I can(: Used to be a great spot with a great little group of close friends but slowly it all just disappeared basically.. But hopefully now that one of the guys have a little club going we will all start riding together again.. I don't see Andrew at all now, haven't gone for a kite with him in years actually.. I don't know what he gets up to now?

It doesn't matter how many times you do the same turn it feels great.

Well good to hear some are quiting after all

Let's allow the phase to die down and we may finally see the crowds thinning with plenty of top notch second hand gear for sale dirt cheap.

Bring it on

ps: Rowdy, thank you for your contributions obviously appreciated by a large crew, I just wish I was one of them

rowdy im wondering..
i know you're uber keen to learn a new wiggly turn variation so that you can get MAXX PRAWWWWPS and all but what do you suppose a guy doing a flat water turny thing can teach a dude dropping into a wobbly wave like yours? apples and oranges if you ask me

Two words, EDGE CONTROL. He would obviously have his edge control down to a tee because he doesn't have to concentrate on the wave part of doing a turn.

Doubt I'll ever stop/quit kiting, as it's been my life for the last ten years. Got into it back in the early days of two line action, but what most appealed to me was the full grunt/try and controll the power of the thing. Yes it was f/kin dangerous back then but we survived (typo maybe).
Nowadays I occasionally go to my local just to stay in touch with my gear and keep the body in tune for epic adventures elsewhere, which I do as often as possible, (quite often reasonably expensive).
Have dragged/lured/helped out many a people who have been to some of these places with me and at the end of the day they all say they'll do it again.

How could you quit kiting ?

I think I will emo rage quit by putting my load line around my neck and powering up the kite in a good hot launch. This is proper way to go out right?

Bad idea... Most of these people are not a anal retentive idiot that drys out lines and kites.. I stash my kite for 2 days on the floor to dry it out away from sunlight. After that I roll it up, if I kite again the next day? I just gently roll it up and bring it to beach repeat the floor. My kite has been used for a year now and looks brand new.

Sadly the gear will be dodgey that these a-holes use like one guy at kite beach... I attempted to be nice and make sure his kite didn't come in contact with rocks when I caught it. He was like "so what I do not care if it got wrecked I would just buy a new one" 0_o are you for reals?!!? This is mentality of these idiots and it makes a mess out on the water.

I am affraid that you just portrayed me

Love my kiting and finally bought myself my first brand spanking new kite this year but there is no way that you will catch me unpacking the kite at home to make sure that there is no sand left in it

A kite is a kite, I use it then I roll it and stash it in the shed until the wind blows and that's about all the attention it gets
