Nah, I don't buy it.

I don't buy that showing it on TV is all of a sudden going to begin a stampede of wanna be kiters down to the local beach.

Its not as though we are practicing some arcane art here, little known to the public. Its been on Bondai Beach Rescue FFS! How much more high exposure is that than a mini series on an extreme sports channel on Foxtel?

Personally I think kiting has already peaked, by far most people found it either too hard, too expensive, apparently too dangerous or too damn sketchy with the wind.

As for '$500 bucks, and a Trading Post' I would like to find the Trading Post that was offering an entire set up for that price.

Anyway, I like to share, you are all welcome to my local spot. I come from PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA..... THE BEST KITE SURFING LOCATION IN THE WORLD

Cheers

Ok has anyone seen wake life?
I haven't
But I am open to our sport being on tele for the simple fact I would like to see our sport grow.
However some people on this forum have some very valid points.
Wanna be's getting cheap gear no lesson or instruction and getting hurt?
Over crwoding at local spots?

Funny when people first started the online kite selling who is doing there lessons??
Making sure they don't do something stupid?
We worried about the same thing a few years ago..

If our sport is portayed properly the risk's associated with it. Then isn't that better for everyone??
Would you like to see more events in the country and regonition for love/ passion, I'd like to be able to check out the boys on tele with my mates seeing our sport progress and the progression of australian riders..
There are some very very hard working people in our kiting commuity who have put in hrs of effort for little or no reward I would like to see these poeple get the regonition they deserve.

Anyway I hope we think about the whole community and not just ourselves, I hate to say this but ask any team rider, there isn't much money in our sport.
The sponsors of events and people who run them deserve our thanks and regonition. Who supports seebreeze, The aksa, waksa, etc. without internal support they wouldn't happen and we'd be with a kite with out a beach, check out which companies and shops support you and your sport.
Wouldn't it be easier with outside sponsor ship to help these associations then the kite brands wouldn't be as involved..
Think about it a little.

I look forward to meeting and greeting the kite life crew at mackay and getting a better idea of where your going and what you are looking at in our sport..
Thankyou David Sorensen.
Good wind and riding to all :-)

We look forward to catching up you too Sorse.

For those who may not know the WakeLife series, the program has aired for five seasons now and still going strong. The program first began in 2005 and was quite a struggle to get off the ground. The wakeboarding industry was a little sceptical on how we were going to portray the sport. "Our aim was to promote participation in the sport".

By bringing more media coverage to the sport we see tournaments leveraging the coverage to obtain more prize money for participants and new grommies and local aussie pro's obtaining more exposure on television and therefore keeping their sponsors happy (or even finding more sponsors). We are also able to educate the wakeboarding world on safety issues and proper water behaviour so that riders can respect eachothers space on the water. We also bring trick tips to the show to help out newcomers and inform viewers on where they can ride.

Above all that, we also provide entertainment to those wishing to watch great riders FROM AUSTRALIA do their thing......we do it because its great fun and we are passionate about extreme sports. We have thought about producing a Kiteboarding show for a couple of years however our production schedule has not allowed time for it. This year we believe we can apply the same production formula we have had for the wakeboarding industry to the kiteboarding world and produce something with the help and knowledge of the kiteboarding industry to provide something for the Australian Kiteboarding community to watch each week on Fuel TV .
