I think the basic premise is that he did it accidentally, not on purpose, not knowing which account he was logged into at the time.

The problem with the hypothesis is that Steve has never (atleast in the past year) used the phrase McKKK

So if he didn't know which account he was using, i.e. he thought he was logged in as "Kitepower Australia" wouldn't he have just signed off using his usual:

Cya and
Goodwinds
Steve

Not

Cya and
Goodwinds
Steve McKKK

The conversion involved the KKK and he has changed his signature to match the topic before

Whoa. Got a bit out of control. Everything but a lynch mob .. all running on rumour! :-)

In summary:

- Happy1 is not Kitepower

What happened:

- Happy1 pretended to be Kitepower by using Steve's familiar sign off

- Some crew "ran with it" as fact, and started calling his business names, presuming it was Steve & that he was pimping. I even heard that someone was threatening to call & tell his mum on him.

- At no point did Happy1 make any reference to kitepower or products that kitepower sells.

Crikey you mob. It's fresh after Christmas & New Years, a time where you're looking forward to the new year.

It's summer, we're wearing shorts, wind is here (mostly) and we're here to discuss the good time of Kitesurfing.

Enjoy!

p.s. Sorry if you just went and bought fresh popcorn...

Apologies for being a stickler Laurie, but do you mean:
1 there is no proof Happy1 is Kitepower other than a suspicion arising from certain posts
2 I don't think Happy1 is Kitepower
3 I have proof Happy1 is not Kitepower?

Thanks

Laurie knows who is who on this forum.

Multiple logins from the same ip address are a dead giveaway!!!

Conspiracy Theory:Nothing to do with Steve!

I heard so many time about the IP address...
What about if someone has 2 computers!!
I mean in my house we have 4 computers... (not counting the ones at work!).
If I really want to hide my identity I would not only use different log in name but also different computer to log in!!!

That's how is done properly...

Then for Laurie to post that it is not Steve then he knows Happy1's true identity. Must be alias of another existing user with same IP address!!

IP's are not exactly hard to separate. My mobile provides one, my ADSL supplies another, my 3G card for my laptop has another. yayyy, i can have 3 separate logins.

Emails can be registered as well on gmail.

yep, plus there are many programs to hide ip, change ip etc.. not to mention shared houses where multiple people use the same computers..

At the end of the day those who followed these related topics know that happy1 = Steve = let it blow = <maybe there are more logins...??>

I suggest you go and read internet for dummies .

Unless you use a proxy or another way of hiding your true location then your theory is shot . Doesn't matter what pc you use in the house, they all have the same external IP . Your house only has one IP in cyber world and thats the ip given to you by your isp . Not your 192.xxx.xxx.xxx address .

Maybe I should read it but not sure if your theory is working!
In my home I have wireless and none of our computer has the same IP, that I knwo for sure, the last two numbers has to be different.
I actually live in a condo and we have wireless that is shared by everyone.
That would mean that we all have the same IP.....
I don't think so!

Maybe you would should read it.

Your modem has a public IP address, your wireless router takes this address and shares it across your local network using NAT using private IP address space. Your computers will have a 192. or 10. addresses, however when you access the internet your local computer connects to the router which then converts it to the public network. So all your computers have their own private IP addresses however on the internet they would all use the same IP address.

That's why its called a router, it routes traffic between two different networks.

Hey Rellie,

Can you bring up that piccie of the double face palm for me? I need it for this post.

Honestly, you blokes are like a pack of old women thriving on a bit of scandal, perpetuating the rumours and cultivating new ones to keep the gossip going. FFS

Is there really that little wind on the east coast? Y'all need to go out and buy bigger kites and get some more water time or something.

If any members of the public were to read this forum to get an idea of what kiters are like, they'd run from the sport so fast. Everyone is so busily consumed with credibility in the eyes of other water sportspersons with legit this and legit that. Christ, if they read this forum, they'd laugh their ar$es off.

Give it up! Who gives a toss?

+1 Well said KH.

I was reading the other thread "how old is to old to be good" and thinking I may never be 'good' enough to impress the 'legit' crew but I feel as fit as I ever have and reckon I have heaps of years of 'good enough for me' kiting left in me.
But then again reading some of the carp on these kiting forums maybe I am to old already.

Mate, I saw you going through on a downwinder the other day, the way you were 'shredding' those waves looked pretty 'legit' to me.

God some people on this forum are muppets.

Option 1 - Lets say for arguments sake that Happy1 was Steve and he was trying to keep it secret why on earth would he sign off as:

"Cya and

Goodwinds

Steve McKKK"

I think the basic premise is that he did it accidentally, not on purpose, not knowing which account he was logged into at the time.

But why would Shopguy sign-off with Steve Mc KKK ?
He's such a freaking redneck.
lol.

And I reckon that'll about do it.

There is no conspiracy, happy1 is not kitepower, and I do know who happy1 is in "real life". Apart from IP technology, I also used this amazing new device called the "telephone" and talked to real people and suss it all out.

Come on folks .. kitesurfing is about the ocean & wind. Yesterday (in this part of the world) saw awesome blue skies, a wicked seabreeze, and waves.

Kitesurfing is about getting out there, having fun, and getting a smile on your dial.

These forums are an extension of that. We're a small community and we are here to support & encourage each other.

Drive each other to improve your skills, learn about new gear, and squeeze more fun out of the sport.

ENJOY!
