going one line to self land isnt self landing either, self landing is putting the kite on the edge of the wind window and making it land so the leading edge is facing down and the wing tips are the furthest down wind.
Self-landing is any solo method that gets the kite back on the ground successfully.
Flagging the kite to a sideline is my preferred way to land my kite.
Others flag to a 5th line.....
Some flag to a centre line.....
Many finesse the kite to settle down sweetly into the wind like a seabird hunkered down facing the weather.....
A few hitch their chicken-loop up to the bullbar....
All these types of landings require practice and the gear and the site needs to suit the method.
Kite-bettys are good in theory but there's always some kiter who is last in the water with no one left at the beach.
Self-landing is empowering.
