Rest in peace.

I never knew you but always admired the "stoke" that always came across in your posts.

As part of my commitment to honor John,s memory I would like to bring to attention to the seabreeze community this pettition run by the Newcastle Herald www.communityrun.org/petitions/campaign-for-a-royal-commission-into-church-sex-abuse-2
You might want to visit the broken rites website too brokenrites.alphalink.com.au/,chilling reading and an eyeopener the extentof the abuse and covering up and lies and deceit is mind boggling .Particularly the latest news section. it will help you understand why John was so upset with the catholic church .His family would have been gutted when they read the day after his funeral that the PM did not think a royal commission was warranted. Please help show the Pm and others that this issue and John and many others deaths are too important not to warrant a royal commission .Nothing less will do

To the family and frinds of John, my sincerest condolences. There are no words. These are the saddest of stories I ever hear, I feel choked for the wife and children of a loving father.

Is there an Australia wide movement for this? That Royal Comission is NSW only by looks.

Of all the things our governments could do, this would restore their credibility most in my eyes. Truth and Reconciliation type commission would be second best but still go a long way.

Rest in Peace John.

They won't if the community continues to be informed about the extent of the problem, it goes way beyond the paedophiles themselves ,as i read one comment the institutional protectors of these mongrels are as bad if not worse . As a result of constant information and reminders, rather than tragic suicides , the community will continue to push for the truth to be exposed via a royal commission .there is no dodging weaving lies and deceit when a royal commission comes to town.
It is up to us who are informed and care to maintain the campaign.

Baptized as a catholic I have no faith in this institution anymore. I wish you all the best of your quest Mr Float and let me know if and when I can help in your endeavor. They need to be held accountable and shown for the hypocritical bigots they are.

My heart goes out to his family and friends, and I agree the last two weeks you spent with him will be a precious memory.

Amen to that! My deepest sypathies to the family

Very sad situation, and the catholic church is the root cause. I would be happy to see that organisation wiped off the planet, and it's obscene wealth divided amongst the poor.

Sounds like a much loved man who will be missed.

However, and I'm going to get some red for this, suicide is such a selfish thing to do. He's free now and his family and kids have to carry the burden of his suicide instead. I know as I've had friends go through it and eventually managed to resume normal life 5 years later. I would never, never put this on my child(ren) no matter how much pain I was in. That is the saddest thing that's happened here.

To say that suicide is a selfish act is an ignorant statement and inappropriate. Can you really imagine the pain that people experience that motivates them to follow through and commit suicide? The act itself is usually the result of long standing issues, to make insurmountable pain stop. It's not usually an act of callous disregard for anyone but themselves.

You acknowledged in your post that you thought your comments were going to upset some people here, and on you went. Your entitled to your opinion, yet not in this thread. Go somewhere else.

I did think carefully before posting, I believe at times like this people don't always need another word of support, sometimes they benefit more from hearing that it's ok to be angry as well.

yep bowing out might be a good idea and both ur posts deleted plz . With all due respect you are entitled to your opinion but not in this thread plz.

It is indeed difficult to understand a person's decision to take their own life . I know there is hardly a moment in the day when I (and I am sure many others )don't think about the gravity of what has happened . I think that everyone can help by making sure at a personal level we are mindful of the victims, their families and friends and do what we can to ensure that they are supported properly and that their is justice .
