But isn't the average rider the target for kite companies, your not gonna make any money targeting the pro rider cos the pro riders are sponsored it's the average joe that spends the coin so there's your target market,the addition of slow and fast settings on the wingtip is so you can obviously dial the bar feel and speed to your desired liking and from your own admission yes you can slow down or speed up the kite to suit your style Ergo your error.

Did you even read what I wrote Radman4? Those settings on the wingtip are an after thought. Putting your kite on the "slow" setting usually makes it perform far worse than on the setting it was originally designed with. Designing a kite to turn slower in the first place yields a far better product.

I never said the average joe wasn't the majority... I merely said this R&D logic is backwards in comparison to most other extreme sports/ board-sports, and in my opinion is only helping to hold back progression of the Pros (and also the Joes).

In other extreme sports/ boards sports the Joes aspire to be Pros, development of equipment is designed towards use by the Pros at an elite level, the Joes aspire to that level and quality of equipment thus they tend to want whatever the pros have.
For some reason in Kiteboarding, we see a backwards design of equipment (especially so in the Freestyle/Wakestyle category, not so much Race or Wave) where equipment is targeted to use by kooks. Adding on whatever gimmick possible to entice kooks to buy the product is used in favour of evolving the equipment to a greater level of pro performance.
This kind of backwards R&D I believe was invented by North.

As i said, in my opinion you can't make a fast kite slow. You can however slow a fast kite "down a bit" to what would be a more manageable speed, but you still haven't made a fast kite a slow kite.

This is much the same as the definition of long and short .

OMG! I love fast kites as well! I thought I was the only one! My 5m is amazing!!! I can't stand these slow kites on the market, what are people thinking!!!??? Can't wait for another 50knot session, that's where the real kiting happens!

I hope you guys eventually make up......

small kite and 50 knot winds IS exactly when the real kiting happens. I have no desire to do any trick other than boosting ever, and I wish I could use my 7m all the time.
