you really need a tripod matie. Otherwise cut down the run ups and bust out the moves!

Foe,

For a first video, is OK.
Just try to get longer scenes, cut down the "slow down effects" they dont help, unless is an instructional video, and just keep the camera goinmg for as long as you can. The more footage, the better (you have from where to choose the best parts).
For a 1 - 2 minutes video, I generally get 45 - 60 minutes of raw footage, and still i have the feeling is not enough.
And get as close as possible to the action, use less the zoom, as even the slightest movement is amplifyed when zooming.
Good luck.

Keep at it Foe, like Silviu has suggested.... Take a lot of footage and when editing show no mercy. I'm a newby to filming and editing also and it's great once you get the hang of the editing program.

Here's a vid that one of the guy's we were with in the Coco's with last year put together. We sent all our pictures and footage to him, so he had a lot to work with, even though the footage (especially mine) was pretty ordinary. It's a bit long, but gives a good overview of our trip and how you can throw it together when the footage is so so.

Movie is ok, but you misspelled your name on my space.

Which would you prefer, fo or foe?

I only ask because I'm pretty sure you're not fo.

The movie was ok though

good job

Sorry Foe, but its required that you be a super awsome kiter before you can ask for advice about your filming.

In future please check with Spruce before posting again.
Thank you, Dan.

Good on ya Foe

Look I've only ever filmed and edited surfing. Normally you will on put the surfers last few paddles and them riding the entire wave till finish, thats what the crew want to watch.

So as someones else said before get the last bit of ya run up then trick landing and the sail away.

Slow down the really good harder tricks , then others like me can get some tipsStacks are good slowed down too. but if it's only like a 2 min vid then maybe slow your fav 3.

Anyhow cheers, show us what you come up with next..

Just a tip for anyone that is editing Kiting vids:

Download all your footage.

Assemble all useable footage into a sequence.

At this stage, decide if your going to lay down the soundtrack you want to use and cut and edit to it (soundtrack), or if your going to assemble, edit and cut the footage and then lay the track down at the end.

Cut and edit the footage, this will be the long version.

Copy to new sequence

If you end up with 10 minutes in the long version, set yourself a gaol of 5 minutes for this new sequence.

Cut and edit the footage, this is the medium version, copy to new sequence, go for 2 min's this time, this is the short version.

What your left with is 3 sequences (vid's), Long, Medium and Short.

Long: You should enjoy this because you were there and it brings back that moment in time, the weather, the trip there and the people you may have spoken to ect.

Medium: Family and non kiting people should enjoy this, if they haven't seen a kite in the air before, they want to see what it looks like and see how it's connected to the body ect. This is the footage that if friends visited, you could narrate what's happening.

Short: This is the youtube, my space ect vid, this has been edited and cut to just the action.

Well, I hope the above helps.

Steve

I second that advice. foe do not take any notice of Dave Spruce he is just upset because he does not have any friends to video him out in the water.

I suggest you save up your footage and use it as a means of coaching your style and seeing where you might be going wrong etc.

Keep up the work and post us a progress video soon.

Guuuuuuuluck!
