Hi all,

Nats has been great fun. Pitty about the wind. Has been extremely light conditions, hopefully thursday will bring some stronger winds and comp can be finished.

So far Dan anderson has won the mens prelim final, marine won womens prelim and Kehai in the juniors.

Sorry about everyone else but i cant remember all.

I guess all comps have got controversy, so no doubt everyone will post all about it.

Pray for more wind on thursday so all competors will get their second chance.

I've had a great time just pitty about the light winds but u cant get everything.

A special thanks to lovely emma, u are the greatest!!

Cheers angie van hoof

good comp, well run and a good result. The best rider won but unfortunatley the decision to call the comp off was a real bad one. I know the reason given was that the forecast was bad and some people wanted to go home but the comp was meant to run from Friday to Thursday so at the end of the day if you had to go home then bad luck you miss out.

We all know from experience that forecast can be wrong and it was in this case we kited all day on the Thursday and had a good time but we could have finished the comp easily.

What about the people who paid $100 for about 3 mins of kiting and paid a weeks worth of accom and wasted a couple of extra days of work how do you think they all feel?

Not a cool decision and i think there should be some big apologies going out. There was not one happy person about it, to me it just looked like the comp went into the to hard basket and this was the easy way out.

Anyway thanks to all the people who helped out, up till then it was a good comp.

Hey just wondering who made the decision to call the comp off?
Me and few other mates got the one day off work to come up and check you guys out in action. It was a little bit disappointing to get there and find out it had been canned the day before. Ive been to a few comps now and this is the first one that has been canned before the finnish date.

The wind was cracking

Well done Dan and all the other division winners.

Sounds like a bit of a dud.

Said it 3 years ago and say it again. Pick the best place in Australia with plenty of space and wind and then have it there over and over again.

I'd like to thank the organisers as well.

I to was most disappointed to hear it had been called off! Like Paul said, not really fair on those that paid all the money to get up there.

My tip that I learnt over the weekend for those who compete is to wear a watch!!!

Gruezi, nice in theory to have it in the same spot every year, not real fair on those who live on the other side of the country who have to travel every year, getting to a comp costs lots of $$$$$$! Also, the best bit about having comps at different locations is seeing different parts of Australia, since you are using all your annual leave from work to get to them!!

Just an idea for those who don't really know the week for a person travelling from WA to compete costs around 900$ I would say at least. It's not really fair on some of the people who had their first heats run in no wind so they came last then didnt have a chance to redeem in the 2nd chance rounds... You can't garunteewind ever but you can hold them in spots at certain times where you are definately more likely to get wind.

Surely it's WA turn next you would think to host??? My nomination would be to hold it Jan/Feb period in Perth. I know thats a bit close minded since thats where I am but there hasn't been a Perth Nats yet and so many kiters live in Perth, and its not a massive trek like Gero...

I'm not sure where you could hold it in Perth, woodies of course would e the first place that comes to mind but then theres issues with parking etc....

I dunno just putting some thoughts out there...

Also to add to my point I'm sure a lot more riders would be prepared to fork out airfares and accomodation if they know they get to ride at a spot like woodies and are almost garunteed of wind.. Also having it in Perth you have a lot of people living close to the comp zpne already so people can share houses for accom...

when i was in nsw earlier for the wave nats a few of us were discussing about where the nationals go..

I think perth should hold the comp next year in late jan early feb..
and hold both wave and freestyle together.. and hold freestyle in safety bay and waves at secret harbour.. both these locations have great viewing for spectator open to varied wind directions and in feb is guarenteed wind.. i dont think its about all the ppl forking out money to travel over i believe what spacemomkey says
If people can travel over for the 2 comps and guarenteed wind.. they will come.. nearly everyone at the wave nats who i spoke to believed it should be in perth..
If the perth kite companys held there hand up and proposed it to aksa they would be happy to do so....
And my opionion the city of rockingham would be stoked to for the tourism to there area plenty of parking accomodation places to see and visit???? and close to perth 45 mins??

Why not have the wave comp, where there are waves, like the windsurfers.... main break.
