Last night I became an Ozzie, I always thought the Ozzie's were free thinkers, adventurists and passionate in what they do - Ozzies pride themselves in their sport and are very patriotic if not the most patriotic.

I hope the councils around Australia don't ruin the great Ozzie way!

I’d say most simply want to enjoy the beach and the view and not have their view ruined. Some of you are unfortunately in a world of your own so let me say one thing to you. Why do you think that many people who live in Whitfords etc have complained to the shire about kities v polys?? Think !

I'm sorry frogman but you can talk utter crap.

Go down to any beach in WA at the time most are kitesurfing and the majority of people there are doing some sort of sporting activity and are not going there to just look at the ocean. Think about - sand blowing, tears streaming and snot creeping across the face and they are there for the scenery.

And there would have to be a lot of kiters out to spoil the view and what about windsurfers and there sails.Please

And just think of the numbers, a hand full of gazers compared to 50 kiters - majority rules. You've got to take into consideration when kiters are out most people go home.

I think you like the attention you get here, maybe we should ignore your posts and you will go away!

Sailboarders have always been at Pinnaroo and there was no issue.

I agree 100% Frogman. The ironic thing is the less they listen to us, the worse it will be for them. "We don't need rules", "no-one tells us what to do", "we'll kite where ever, however we want" etc etc Boys carry on, please!!! You could not be doing us gaylord poleys any more of a favour. In fact if you decided to actually be a little bit more respectful and a little bit more adult there would be much less chance of Kiting becoming banned/restricted throughout Perth and WA. So why on earth would we want you to? To the likes of Richswing, Oceanfire and Tgladmanf et al, Windsurfers of WA salute you! Keep up the good work.

It's an understandable mistake to make; it's easy to misinterperate what someone is saying when you can't hear the tone of their voice.

If you take the time to read, someone who was actually at one of the council meetings has noted that the concerned residents have actually stated on the record that they do actually like to watch the kites out & about.
I never said that people rush down to watch the kites, rather that they enjoy watching & are not offended or taken aback by seeng kiters out on the water.

Note that I am only commenting about the beaches in question that this thread was started for, I cannot comment on what has/had happened at St Kilda.
St Kilda is a completely seperate issue, perhaps there has been issues with people not liking seeing kites on the water over there, however it has been stated that this clearly is not the issue here.

Please do not read any aggression into my post Frogman, none is intended.
And please do not twist my words into a representation of something I did not say.

I would like to ask you what the details are of the run in you had with a kiter at Pinaroo point, as you have stated in an earlier post.
You made the claim that you had a run in with a kiter, yet you dodged the question when asked for details & you actually showed aggression towards the person who asked you.

Please, show me where someone here said that.

From what I have seen & read, just about every kiter here believes that kiters, windsurfers, regular beach users etc can live & use the beach together in harmony without the council having to introduce draconian measures to make it so.

Zed & Frogman, I understand that you both have strong feelings in regards to this issue, you obviously care deeply, however by twisting people's words & making strong statements without backing up what you say with information is not going to make people want to listen to you.

Yes it is ! Because the only people listening to these guys; and the only ones they are talking to; are those 'concerned citizens' who scan this forum collecting juicy quotes, accurate or otherwise, to thicken up their submissions and to improve their chances of limiting everyone elses freedom but their own.

Out of interest a close relative of one of the Joondalup concillors reported that they too scan this forum and they they too can, & do, recognise fact from fiction. These kite-envy old trolls must think everyone is as stupid as they are. Luckily it seems they may be wrong there too.

I would like to say in response to that, Kiting is dangerous and should be banned. i was walking my poodle on Mullaloo beach and a Kiter (who was drunk) deliberately flew his kite into my cute poodle. He now has his little back leg in a plaster and may never be able to walk again.

You are fighting with clear air here, because THIS FORUM DOES NOT REPRESENT THE KITESURFING COMMUNITY, only a small % of kitesurfers post here. It is WAKSA (in WA) our elected association that represents us. You have no idea what's going on in our community, because you are not part of it. So try to engrave these into your circuits, and try to be a little more intelligent....or at least a bit more entertaining...

Button pushing, twisting what people say, inflammatory outbursts, aggression & baseless statements about previously experienced injustices to your person, without providing the stories behind them, are best left in the school yard.

We're all still waiting to hear the details about your horrible run in with a rogue kiter at Pinnaroo, or any other issues you have had that are directly relatable to the beaches in question, not St Kilda, but any real issues you have with the kiters or other wise at Pinnaroo Point or Mullaloo, that has made you launch on your campaign to 'help' us.

I think, this forum is far too diverse, sometimes incoherent to represent anyone....here everyone represents themselves....
Without an association we had no chance now in Mullaloo, or we could not have a chance in Cotts some years ago....what they achieve will be the benefit of all kiters regardless of membership...

I think the main difference between kities and polys according to folks in St Kilda (2010 premiers) is that kites ruin the ocean view for beach goers.

Kiting in St Kilda is done mostly beach side of the Break water and a hundred yachts. What view is there for kites to ruin?

I think that kitesurfers are out of control now. A friend of mine went to Pinnaroo point last week and noticed an arrogant kities setting up right on the beach where kids were playing. He then carried on surfing out and back nearly hitting people. I mean fairs fair but kities already use most of the west coast and you can see them any day along the coast line from Mullz to Swanbourne.

Give us a break you guys have all the beaches and still moan?? The City of Joondalup must seperate you from us polys and jets as Pinnaroo is now packed.

i love this site its so funny, i wonder if the council reads this forum topic ,way to go guys
