sooner or later the Karma will get him, remember what happened to Nat Young ??

No...

Well it goes like this.. Nat grew old and grumpy, thought he still shreds like a grommet, gave s0me dude sh!t and got his head punched in, then cried wolf on national TV, now does commercials for headache pills lol. Well I think that's how it went.

I've come across it, old dude that is. Just outright grumpy lol. Instead of sharing and enjoying the stoke with others they have brain freezes and carry on like some juvenile from back in their bullying school days.

The only reason him and others alike don't get smashed is their age. But he will get it one day, just like Nat did, karma's a bitch. I prefer to use the smile and wave method, but if some chooses to be physical then that's what I will give in return.

lol. ^^^
Using age to find fault in someone is called age-discrimination.
In some situations ageism and it's disfavour is unlawful and penalties apply.
Age is to be respected, the knowledge and experience that comes with maturity needs to be treated with esteem.
You're no spring-chicken yourself, Sam. lol.
And if you're not getting old, you're dead dude.

Do you really sit and laugh out loud at what your reading, or do you use the lol loosly to feel young and try devaluing someones opinion because it differs from yours.

At no point have I stated I have anything against the older generation, only the ones that grow old and grumpy, for example Werner. I do downwinders with an older gentlemen, I like him, he's not worrying about who's upwind or downwind 400m out to sea. He just loves being out there sharing the stoke He posts on this forum every now and then, it's always positive and constructive. He's actually a cool dude with out inserting lol's at the start and end of his posts like some 13 year old high school girl would do.

Slave, your comment about me not being a spring chicken would have to be about the only thing you've ever written that I agree with. At 32 I'm guessing I would be at least half your age, but if you think I'm going to show an ounce of respect to you because your old, you have a dilemma on your hands. My parents raised me on the principles that respect is something you earn, it's about attitude, treating others as you wish to be treated. I guess that philosophy right there explains why you have no beach credability or online credability for that matter

I apologise to everyone else for detracting from the topic to rectify Slaves stupid response, I promise no response to what he comes back with. I've waste the last 5min of my life on this turkey can't afford any more.

Werner's just old and grumpy, go up the point you'll have no drama. If he comes at you in the water then stick it up him.

You're losing it, man.
Mid-life crisis perhaps ?
Obviously you have a bias against mature persons.
It's an issue you need to work on.....
don't bother bringing your prejudices to the forum.
Threats of violence in your posts are also inappropiate.
The majority of seabreeze members are mature folks who are just peace-loving windfreaks.
Chill dude.

Actually I am with him on this as well. I have no issue with most old people but there are some that walk around looking like they just ate an entire bag of lemons and I just think "wtf, just die already if you hate life that much". A lot of the miserable ones I've seen seem to be foreigners, so I don't know whether they are pissed off with their kids for bringing them to Aus, or just in a bad mood 100% of the time. They're like old versions of emos

in Lancelin, windsurfers have their place: small beach, in a wind shadow, with lots of sea weed, 4m wide, 2 meter deep, just in front of the lawn, BBQ and people watching the windsurfers. not a good place to rig and launch your kite

kiter's beach is 300m upwind, with very big area for launching, better wind, less sea weed, you can park your car on the beach, no one else uses this part of the beach. it's the best place for kiting.

in lancelin there is a good feeling between kiters and windsurfers, I have seen a windsurfer grabing a lost kite, another one brought my board back to shore. a kitesurfer towed a windsurfer who broke his mast in the waves 400m from shore, saving him a long swim.

so everyone is safe and happy, exept if one kiter goes a bit too far downwind and come to close to windsurfer zone, and Werner gets angry.

maybe I would be as grumpy as him, if for 10 years I had to tell every new kiter tourist coming to lancelin that the beach 300m upwind is a lot better and safer for kitesurfing than just in front of the carpark.

I can understand the reason if there is more than 30 windsurfers, it's better if everyone stays in his group.

there is just the right and a wrong way to say it

I have seen werner tells a kiter who was rigging is kite just in the middle of the "windsurfing beach", to leave the place or he will cut his lines. there was 3 windsurfers sailing that day, because there was less than 20 knots. looks like he was angry because we could kite that day, and he couldn't sail.

thats for beach area, waves are another story.

I agree that where everyone kites at the upwind point is the best place for us. I take no issue with this as it's just a bit of common knowledge. I take great issue with the way the message is CONVEYED though.

Its a honest opinion. You want me to lie and say that most of the old miserable people I have seen on trams and trains are aussies? I'm a foreigner so its not like its an aussie hatred of foreigners or something like that, I'm just commenting on what I've seen, because the one thing that struck me about Melbourne is that its one of the friendliest cities in the world and this in particular stood out against that.

Spend some time travelling on trams and trains in Melbourne and you'll see a weird phenomenon of miserable old people syndrome. I spent a year on them before I had a car, and trust me, its there, and I have no idea why.

As an ex-windsurfer and current kitesurfer I was really pissed off to see the good name of Australian water users tarnished by the absolute idiot referred to in an article by Gabi Seindtl in the current issue of Kitesurf (a UK magazine). If there is a shred of truth to the fact that he seriously hasselled another water user (let alone a female) he should be run out of Lancelin.

Localism in the water should not be tolerated by anyone!!!! If the committee and members of Windsurf WA don't haul this idiot's arse over the coals they should be ashamed.

All kitesurfers should drop by Lancelin and give this guy a mouthful!!!

Let's make sure no kitesurfers repeat this sort of behaviour - respect other water users.

You don't have to be that old to feel grumpy about being in Melbourne. I'm 31, went clubbing a few weeks back and felt so out of place, unlike London where its just something you can go out and do without feeling too old. I don't want to go to a lame +28s club, I want to listen to the newest, edgiest stuff!

I reckon I would be old and grumpy too, everything Australia is about seems to be geared towards being younger!

But yeah, this thread is good, I even learnt a windsurfer term... hanky flyer :-)

Hi,

Also read the article regarding the Swiss gent in Lancelin...some comments:

a): The incident happened in the main passage which for anyone not familiar with Lancelin is located well away from "Werner's so called windsurfing hotspot", so no way could the lady in question be crashing in on learners etc. The passage is a wave area well offshore and covers a wider vast area with plenty of room for kiters, windsurfers, boats, surfers, fishermen, wakeboarding, swimming, snorkelling, jet-skis etc.

b): I have been travelling to Lancelin from overseas for many years and I have also heard many stories, seen a little of the wrath of a certain man in action mostly being rude on-shore to anyone who is a non windsurfer.... This in no way promotes Lancelin as a good destination for international tourists or even Aussies alike.

Bottom line is that if a situation did put a person at risk with dangerous personal actions and vulgar language then any such incidents should be reported to the local Police, council and the marine rangers who do patrol the area. Only after incidents are formally reported will anything be done to make the offender (s) take note that it is and should not be tolerated.

I spend long summers in Lancelin every year and I have never had any other trouble with any other ocean users....In fact I have often stopped in the passage and had a chat with windsurfers taking a rest near the end of the reef....So lets raise above the personal agression and just be a little more tolerant......and above all report and inform the locals.
