The local police we're even asking for kite lessons, the circle of life will win

Yep, gave them a hand yesterday and a few tips. The coppers are new to town and keen as mustard to get into it, good blokes too. I'm looking forward to seeing how our german friend and the shire rangers will approach them if they dare to enter the windsurfing domain!

What is this windsurfing domain anyway ,Is it public land and water ?Is the some legislation somewhere that there is a windsurfing only area there and that the rangers enforce it?

Having a look at google earth there seems to be plenty of spots you can go .Are they all filled up with poleys?

water skiing areas use to have signs at every boat ramp explaining the rules of the spot, this will stop alot of agro between all water users! WAKSA should be shorting this with the local councils.

sounds more like someone should be sorting out the offender with a baseball bat

After all the publicity that lano gets on this forum, I can't believe anyone still bother to go there.

Reading all this and other threads about Werner I thought I would have a quick look over at the Windsurfing WA forum just to see if there was a post about him over there.

There was, and boy has he alot of support from all the poleys. They all think this guy is a legend!

First of all the person who calls himself Idiot leaves no guessing as to how he got that name, especially after comments like that.
Remember this is our sport and hobby not our lives at stake, to wish somethng of that sort on anyone would only come from an Idiot or perhaps a 12 year old having a tantrum.

Second of all, whilst I don't condone Werners behaviour you would think that some proof of him doing the deed would come before a flogging, I have been to Lano a couple of times and have had no dramas, I am not saying he isn't causing problems (I have read some forums in the past) but what I am saying is that I personally have no issues and even if I did I don't think I would carry on like some of you lot.

WA is a great place to live and kite and I think its time we started to realise what we have and stop bitching and moaning about anyone who's different or isn't doing all the right things according to their opinion.

This forum used to be a great communication between kiters and like minded people who either wanted info or were prepared to pass it on to help others, lets keep it that way and stop bagging each and all who love this sport.

Good winds to all

I have had nothing to do with this guy but hear stories about how nice and helpful he is (from windsurfers).
That aside, IF any of the stories about him from kitesurfers are true he is way out of line.
Not saying Werner is right but an analogy:

Imagine kiters have always been at Lancelin in front of the main grassed area. No agro ever existed. In fact it was so good there and so popular a school and hire place started run by a guy called err lets say Warner

Skip forward 20 years and suddenly somebody invents jetskis - even better, lets say they tow a skier so they take up a bit more room.
Suddenly they use the same area at lancelin - even though they could go 200m away downwind - and there are a number of incidents on the water.
Warner is upset that they are making it hard for his learners.
The kiters in general are upset about "their" area being stuffed up.
Only some of the jetskiers are dangerous or a pain in the arse, but on some days the sheer volume of them on the water makes things a bit hard.
They could just go a bit further down the beach....

Would the kiters be up in arms, and would Warner the kite instructor / hire guy tend to go off?

As I said I am not endorsing his agro, just the door swings both ways guys.

peace.

Yep,

I vote Lano for nest Kitestock. It would be hilarious to see Werners face when 200+ kiters show up for a weekend. Can we put the main tents etc on the grass area please?

He's a frustrated old poley stuck in a time warp of the 80's when windsurfing was big and even considered cool. We should "pity the fool" to borrow a quote from BA Baracus of A-Team.

Take comfort in the fact that he's old and can't do it forever. [}:)] And Lano will become the Epicenter of kiting in WA. The Government even built a shiny new road up there so downwinders to Wedge are possible with a 2 wheel drive

If Werner did key the car, he should be brought to justice. That's just wrong and cowardly.

KH, after the last verbal flogging you received in relation to another topic, which in your part, ended up being mostly in the negative from your peers. I recall you negotiating like crazy going all guns to retain any territory you believe was fair and reasonable for your business, and kite surfing in general.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=60592
The last thing you should be doing, as a Kite School leader, is inflaming any more issues.
Unfortunately there are a few in the kite scene, who in the past couldn't give a rats, didn't respect themselves, nor any other water user in this location. Consequently Warner's stance on kites, locked in full stop. You wont gain one inch of ground because he is calling it "SAFETY FIRST" and has every safety minded person up there, in line behind him.

Sorry mate, there is no excuse to try run down people on the water in the interests of safety. Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. If Werner was really concerned about Safety, would he swear and people and charge them down on his board? That sounds like a safety risk. Saying "F off or you'll get hurt" also sounds a little like a threat, hardly safety conscious, is he?

Swearing at new people in Lano who have never kited and pissed him off is also uncalled for and a public nuisance. There is no excuse for that either and if you're trying to say there is, well then I feel sorry for you.

Lets look logically at this. If you walk up to a person and tell them to "**** off" do you honestly think they are going to move 500m away or do you think they will do the exact opposite because of your bad attitude. Does it do anything for Lano? Nope, all people remember is they went to Lano and got told off by some grumpy old fart. Would they come back? Well, if there are places they can go to where they won't be abused, probably not.

The only thing I found lancelin was good for was fuel, pizza and to put air back into the tyres ( of and the awesome dune driving ) As a kiting spot o found it to be quite average that being said that werner guy is a cock..... Perhaps a handfull of old praws could be thrown into his van each time anyone visits then again The guy is an out and out bully and would probably only respond to being physically threatened. I know this is not in most kiters nature but surely if a few blokes bailed him up one night while he is packing up.... No violence required just a bit of intimidation........ Oh and remember to mention the war

Your analogy is a little skewed. ^^^
A jetski is a petrol-head thing, a motored craft.
But this issue is about a commercial interest.
This is about learners of a particular windsport being compromised by learners of a different windsport.
Kook vs kook.
It makes you wonder if poleboarding and kiting can ever co-exist.

A different angle to the 'dangle'

Someone check when his lease to use that part of the beach expires - put in a major bid to use it with promises of Poley utopia. Then back flip it and Turn it all Pro Kiteboarding with a little windsurfing on the side and market it as the best kiteing spot in the world flat water N waves - the council will change there mind when they see the tourism dollar go through the roof !!!

Ledge to lancilin - one weekend+massive party at the pub Next weeken KiteStock+Massive party at pub

Someone needs to think big picture here & build a poley & kitesurfing & surf club On the beach combined with major marketing expertise worldwide and .... Bingo

Integration of all water sports can be the only long term acceptable/sustainable outcome here.

I used to be a wave slashing poley fo 20yrs and can see its only ignorance from both sides

Plant the seed

Now wheres another poley to jump over Jussst kidding

When does talking trash about an individual turn into defamation?

These stories about W are 99% made up because a kite-tard did something dangerous, got told off and caught a serious case of deflated ego. So they start spreading baseless slander in an an act of self justification.

Fkin grow up.

Me thinks this thread and all other W threads are better off being deleted.

To lighten the mood, this forum sure does have a lot of whiners, spouse there are a lot of Uk folk in the sport though

Two nuns are ordered to paint a room in the convent,

with a warning from the Mother Superior not to get even a drop of paint on their habits.

After conferring about this, the two nuns decide to lock the door of the room, strip off their habits, and paint naked...

In the middle of the project, there's a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" calls one of the nuns.

"Blind man," replies a voice from the other side of the door.

The two nuns look at each other and shrug, both deciding that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room. They open the door.

"Nice boobs," says the man. "Where do you want the blinds?"
