You’ve copped the frustration from kiters across the country. Just suck it up and get out there and have fun again. I’m sure you will be attaching your leash from now on and you will be a bit more careful. Remember, it’s not about that loss of your kite, it’s the damage it can cause to others from your negligence, ignorance, .....well you can imagine the rest.
Some of us have been kiting for about a decade and more, and at many beaches we started facing restrictions or even threats of kite-bans in recent years. All just because of an increase of such - as some may say - mistakes that everyone once had. Well, that’s exactly why we have restrictions now.
But see it this way, by keeping the thread open you might help someone else to remember to do the necessary checks, attach a leash, hook in and check again before launching. Apart from some blind dates (good luck) you are now contributing to a bit more safety awareness.
I agree with you. Someone in this tread has opened another one regarding security. But I am happy to let this one open so all the people can tell their kitemares (Hey KiterMan: what happened to you at Botany on Sunday on your beach after my accident?

) Funnily, most of the really bad stories (like mine or even worse with people hurt) I hear on the phone or via email - do you think there are more people out there to post their accidents so that others can learn from them? Let's see, I am very curious.
... and... nothing wrong with blind dates with potential heros
