Hey mate,

The board the other guys have been recommending are fairly purist wave rideing boards and work a treat in awesome surf with the right skills.

But for perth's shotty conditions(onshore slop) give the Airush choptop a look, http://www.airush.com/products/pdbd_choptop.asp .

Designed for unstrapped rideing, works a treat in the onshore slop and sticks to your feet unstrapped like nothing else, it's also pretty bombproof compared to a lot of other boards. Will make gybeing easy as well, but still rips on the wave, escpecially as a twin fin.

Give me a shout if you want to try mine,

Thanks
Matt

Hi all and PR

Didn't get a chance to demo as many boards as i would have liked at kitestock, but i did try the new underground surf style board. It had a surfboard outline but felt more like an oversize Macka,s tray (in a good way though,) ie it was thin, about 25mm?? and had a rolled edge, another 20mm, full gorilla style deck grip. I don't know how it would perform in decent surf but as a fun board for Perth's quality waves LOL, it may be an option worth considering.

Dunno what to get.

The choice as i see it is either a Kitesurfboard, ie Converse SST SRT or similar a Surfboard so a Webber or a custom etc or something like a Toxic.

Thus far i am leaning towards a custom tufflite. 6'2" x 18 1/2 x 14 1/3 (tail) by 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 Thick. Thruster with future fins. Single concave, square squash tail with a steep rocker in the nose and a little kick in the tail with increasingly sharper rails from about half way down the board.

Just gotta find someone to make it for me now....

From what i have learnt it seems that its how you want the board to respond.

If you want that surfboard feeling then your need is best satisfied with a surfboard. Kitesurfboards seem good, bulletproof, especially the converse and the jimmy lewis but most i have seen lack in rocker and i dont get the impression that they would give a snappy skatey sort of shortboard feel.

I think custom is the WTG, but then again....

Sounds like you're on the money with the custom! I prefer slighter thinner boards...mine is 2 1/16...but heaps of people reckon go thicker for kiting.
Wouldn't a custom pop-out be super expensive though??
May as well see if you can get inserts put in as well. But then you'd need the thickness in the board...
