Was looking for a small kite in the buy and sell yesterday and found a couple of overpriced dogs
eg wipika 2003 2 line kite for $400
The thing is 6 years old - and is not worth a dollar

What else have people seen that is a total joke?????

I had a teenage lad rock up for his first lesson asking to be taught on his own kite he bought on ebay.

It was a 14m Wipika Airblast with a two line bar and bridle system.

It went back on ebay the next day.

You mean the SS CL with the double cleats on it? (main depower line & 5th line) That's one of the best pieces of hardware ever released! I've actually just retrofitted it instead of my Naish smartloop whilst i source some replacement bits for the smartloop.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!

He may be referring to the wear issues on the chickenloop rope.

the slingshot bar itself (07 model at least )....... no actual grip feels like a metal rod encased in plastic..... appalling I resorted to using my cabrinha bars on the fuel

Cabrinha depower/trim straps- I go through 2 ( sometimes three per year)...

IDS without a stopperball......... how else am i supposed to spin my bar back mid kite loop

Stinkfish would have to be a contender.

I am sure the Best crew cringe whenever that little piece of marketing overhype gets brought up.

North toro 2 16m. Pulled like a truck.next to no depower, No chance of riding that peice of turd upwind. Constantly teabagged, and the leading edge exploded when I crashed it out the back on a 6ft plus day. I just happened to be in the mother of all rips where this happened, so the leading edge now full of water, felt like it weighed a ton, was pulling me out to sea in the rip. Decided to ditch the kite, 45 min swim back to shore, almost drowned.

Ahh the good old days!

Compared to current gear my old kites were crap - but I loved them all at the time!
Naish AR3.5, AR5, ARX, Slingy Fuels from '03, '04, '07, '08, '09.

Still have a 7m AR3.5 and 9.5m ARX in the garage. Been thnking about getting them out for a run! Nice Fluoro Yellow jobs.

so many pieces of sh!t:

the first waroos, nearly all went back in shops for waranty or for exchange for another kite. (you get what you pay for)

SS first turbodiesel, impossible to relaunch, always fall on leading edge, and entangle itself.

old F.one bar, the one with zebra grip: the push bar quick release, so many unwanted releases and you need 3 persons to put it back once released.

liquidforce quick release, simply doesn't work, way too hard, even when there is no sand in it. it is the same bar for years.

Liar. I tried sliding a wave last week and it couldn't hold my weight, it just collapsed. That's why they make the sliders out of wood and not water :p

How can you bag Cab's Recon and CB1

Both were revolutionary ideas about solving existing kite problems of the time.

Sure they are average by today's standards, by they treied with varying success to ease relaunch and kite safety and usability.

The CB1 (and Takoon Nova) were the first bow kites and despite the total bagging they got at the time (including byt a lot of oltime seabreeze users who vowed never to be caught dead on anything but a C) , guess what we are all riding now, a variant of these kites. Try driving a model T ford today and see how much you like it.

Cab haters are usually just envious. Looks like Cabhave taken the mantle that Naish had about 5 years ago.

I love my Cab gear - new models come out before not during Aussie season, always innovative, always improved, always reliable, great resale and best of all ............great kites.

As for the boards....I tend to agree, they have missed the mark.

Cab kites are quality gear........ yes they have some miror issues for some ( I for one dont like the IDS )

BUt as far as build quality of the kites ease of use etc.... IMO only slingshot are in the same bed.

Slingshot and Cabrinha - best quality by a long way
