Come on people lets here some names, dont be shy...

please give reasons for your decisions- ie good style, big air powered..

Please dont hold back, if your want to slag someones style go for it.

Guys im excludeing myself "the devil fish" from the POLL, cause we all know I would get that top spot. So please dont vote for me.Just trying to make things fair

No disrespect to lil dan... I've known him for some time and he's a top guy and I've got a lot of respect for him as I do for the other guys in mensioned as apart from rich i know them also... but the post did say top 5 in AUS ? and as I stated, in my opinion your only as good as your last result !

"the rat" has the crown...

Ive heard some slag stenning and anderson's style saying they only do big airs and board off's. And dont deserve the aclaims they have received. True or false?

That's bullsheit... everyone of those guys I mensioned above rock !. I hav'nt ridden with rich but I've seen him ride... I'm sure there are many more guys out there that are equally as good... Pretty much all the guys I ride with kite extremely well and lay down their own style in one way or another and thats what it's about...

The guys who slagg off others suffer penis envy...

but dale stanton took out the WA titles, and that was more recent than the nationals? , and the big air comp...

i think ranked positions are overrated. I'm sure the Pkra dudes are good and that there are a lot of people out there that are as good or better than the PKRA guys that aren't interested in tourning and would rather just ride!

I recon the top ten aussie riders are pretty evenly skilled aswell

I want to here names, list and ranks.

Who's got good style who hasnt.. Who's teKing it up at the moment.

Stop being nice guys, and sitting on the fence im sure you've all got opinions, controversial or not lets here them.

My opinion - based on events, videos and watching them on local beaches.

The rat - fully teking it up, lots of power ,okay style, handle passes do get a bit boring after a while.

Gordan - Fully tech , powered..could potentetially beat anyone in a comp. handle passes do get a bit boring after a while.

Anderson - can really boost, insane kiteloops, lacks the handle pass manuevers that you really need to be the top gun.But great style and very promising

Ryland - Good mix of tricks, he can boost. lacks consistency.

Me - kite loop king - super consistent has never missed a landing. Inventing new tricks each time he gets on the water.

yeh it's a bit hard to make a decison becuase there are so many up and comings who don't compete yet plus there are soo many awsome riders around... the only main difference between realy awsome riders and pro's
is consistency.. and some have style

Rich is a champ for those who think otherwise. And I hate the dingle **** so I wouldn't be thinking he was a good rider otherwise. He can do all the powered handlepasses and anyone who can run down the beach, kiteloop with skimboard in hand and land in half an inch of water and ride away from it knows what they're doing in my books...

Its easy Think of you top ten then pick out the ones that dont ride bindings and remove them from the list. If your in straps it doesnt count!

does anyone else think that these guys kite for a living??...they do live to kite but knowone gets paid to do it.
Most kiters in Australia do structure work around the windy part of the day but most of the kiters mentioned do work/go to Uni and i would hope that everyone knows this. I think it would be annoying to the above people for everyone to think there is a pro scene in Australia, fact is -it is not that big of a sport and there is not much corporate activity and therefore no bucks even if you are the best. Some of these guys have to buy their kites even though all the punters on the beach think they have a garage full of their spono's kites.
As for the real pro's... some of them come from huge money families like Vari and Stav, and never have to work a day in their lives and they can go kiting every day. Irony is since they had so much time on the water now they do get paid because they are the best in the game...

Yeah ,whats your point? When asked who are the top 5 kiters in Auz ,is that pro or norm? I cant see the importance.I can however see the importance of who is up and coming because we are always looking for new talent and the good ones dont usually know they have it.If ya think ya good forget it.Im shocked that kitesurfing is not big in Auz ? ER WHY? Who the hell is promoting it ? Well here in the UK its big . As to the boards you guys with your self builds are way ahead. Shweet. And yes im Australian living in the UK ,dont know why .Cant wait to set up in Australia.

My top riders are Jason Furness, Steve and Brian Kellner and last but not least Simon Catling as he taught these guys to kitesurf from day one and is a friend and team rider for us.So it doesnt matter whos best .Just do it and enjoy.

kiting is unjudgable!

i don't know why you guys bother with such speculation.

sure there are lots of good atheletes, but there are so many styles that it's like arguing about your favourite sausage flavor.

i like lamb and rosemary.

My question was simple , who are the best 5 riders in OZ pro or not...

For me i think it is pretty easy to determine who are the best riders, it is thoses who can consistently land all their tricks under pressure or not.

There are alot of show ponies out there who go for really dificult tricks land them evey now and then. But when it comes to crunch time in a ten minute heat cant do it.

If you ask me comps are a good way to separate the pro's from the rest. These are the guys that can land their tricks, under pressure, in a short alloted time period in any given condidtions.

Look at kelly slater in the surfing world, he is deemed unquestionable the best surfer in the world cause he can produce the goods when it counts. Same goes for kitesurfing..

This is the difference between west and east. West cost have consistent riders. eg Rat , anderson ,gordan , stenning. East coast are those previously mentioned show ponies.

Big ups to the west side

I thought Stenning lived in Sydney area. Wouldn't that remove him from your consistant list over to the "Show-Pony" list?
Well

Devil-Fish... You specifically ask for OUR opinion on 'who's got style and who hasnt'... Yet you continue to question the ability of riders who some seem to encompass these qualities you asked for... !? If you find your question to be that simple, then why ask mate? Just look at the nationals, mambo, tannum results, and other ones, and put your own list together that meets your guidelines…
Don’t criticise people for expressing their own opinions on who they see as a mad rider…. Especially seeing you asked for their opinion…

My View in any order:-

Grommie
Zebb
Daz
Norts
Ibus
Dan
The Rat
Tobes
Balls
Bevo
Ryland

East AND West Coast have great riders
