If you your harness is built into your shorts ie
Dakine Nitros there is not option - Shorts over wetty.

OK, I'll lead with my chin.

There are two legitimate reasons to wear shorts over wettie.

1) As seen above
2) You are G.A.Y. !

I have a problem - my board-shorts have a wetsuit short inside- does this make me gay?

I've heard that its not gay if you're experimenting- and I try new stuff all the time.

Someone told me it's not gay if your balls aren't touching, but can't work out what this means.

frankly, I'm confident with my sexuality enough to believe that wearing a pair of boardies over a wetsuit won't stop me from having dangerously vivids wet dreams about Nicky whelan [/URL]

I mean.. maybe it's just me, but if something this little could make you doubt wether you like dudes or not.. maybe it's time to ask yourself some questions..

(I actually don't wear them usually, because I'm still awgul, and the less attention the better, but once I get good enough I think they give a touch of color to an ugly black thick pijama)

I don't get the gay-debate part, if u are in to dudes it's much easier stating that by stating that u like to play cricket or field hockey

Fick I just don't know where to start with this topic. This is the funniest thing I have ever read.

I was a dive instructor for 10 years. In this industry people usually wear a wettie. Boys, girls. I never seen/heard anyone complain about 'profiles'. When I was young we all went surfing/spearing and we all wore wetties. Now days there's stinger suits. Boy/girl bulges? Yep, kind of goes with the territory. I like girl bulges. Girls like boy bulges and so then universe is made whole.
If you wankers are wearing boardies to hide your manhood then that's just sad. If you are wearing boardies to try and establish an image then that's worth discussing.
What the real issue maybe is that kite surfers want their own style/brand of wetsuit to define their sport/image. I have no idea what it would look like since everyone seems so concerned about penis size but I'm sure if we can put a man on the moon we can deal with that...

The argument is moot...until you see a fat ugly 50-60 year old's rotund harnessed middle with shapeless legs and sagging butt hanging out of the harness and you realise... respect to those who spare the eyesore and clad their less gracious proportions in a pair of boardies.

The kitesurfing harness is unfortunately guilty of breaking up the natural line of the body and exacerbating anything less than perfect proportions.

Surfers are sparred the ugliness of less than perfect male proportions as most of the time, given the amount of time sitting on one's board, what's below the waist is below the water. Kitesurfer's bodies are on show all the time.

Personally, I started wearing boardies as where I where I learnt to kite (read sitting on your arse putting your board on your feet), most of the beaches had shells and I saw it as sensible that if you were going to tear the arse out of something, let it be a $50 pair of board shorts rather than a $500 wetsuit.

Now I just think it looks better. Plain and simple. Young fit bodies, fine. Old or less than attractive bodies, yuk! If you think your arse is so great, fine, put it on show. If not, respect other's vision and wrap it in a pair of board shorts. If you just don't care, then good for you, don't care.

Read an article on the BWS brand and came across this in the article:

"Yet surfers have not taken up the sport in the numbers many had expected or predicted. Problems have included the cost of the gear, the steep learning curve, fluro coloured kites and let's not forget the fashion of wearing board shorts over ones wetsuit. All these factors have helped to turn a large majority of surfers away from the sport."

Haha, I didn't know the BOW issue was that widespread that its turning surfers off kiting!
