I had my first 35knot+ sess on my first time kiting not having done any wakeboarding or anything wind related

Just having done a snowboard season I had travelled and tried 3 different spots (not all in the same country) but just missed the tail end of their seasons.
Ended up in one flat location where you could wade out to waist deep about 800m out and several km's of downwind space but the weather was cranking. The instructor knew i'd missed out several times and had travelled to this point for a few days to learn.
I weigh 65kgs and am fairly short and learnt with a bigger guy we referred to as the 'anchorman' for that day. Easily 6ft and 95kg.
We pumped up the 4m wipika training kite and rigged it halving the lines to 15m lines.
The instructor launched the kite and got the 'anchorman' to hold on to her while we walked out. I would hang on the back of the instructor while she body dragged and vice versa. Then I went on my own but had to be unhooked so i could just let go of it........... brings a whole new meaning to the words 'salmon leaping' ha ha
Learnt to relaunch it aswell.
Next up was the board water start.......... a directional board at that with no leash of course and helmets all the way. Still no hooked in action so my first water starts were unhooked with a kite that resembled the speed and twitchiness of a bumble bee. I went over the board a few times that day but i got some runs in and out by the end of the day going down wind of course. To show how strong the wind was, the anchorman was up on the board aswell and probs was better than me - ex windsurfer!
Anyway, heaps of fun... heaps of space and it was easy to just let go of the bar.
I was going back and fourth on a bigger kite by the end of the week on a 4 line 12m/twinny in steadier winds making ground.

Obviously the space and the fact no one was around in weather like that gave me the chance to learn. Any other time or place would have been a big no no down to safety.
