hand plant backloop trasition
the idea is you want to pivot around your hand that is in the water as you do a back spinn and land going the other way (not as hard as it sounds)

ridding in heelside with plenty of speed. take you front hand off the bar place it in the water. slowly start to bring the kite above your head by pulling on your back hand as the kite starts to pull you off the water throw your head back over your front shoulder to start the back roll and as the board is leaving the water you want to be carving it up into the wind when you leave the water you want to be looking over your front shoulder to spot the lannding. the board should land going in the same direction but because you have been pulling on your back hand the kite will start to pull you back the other way as you ride off with a stupid grin on your face.
the big secret to this move is you should allready be able to do a back roll first and its all in the timeing of the kite. if you pull too hard on your back hand as you are going into the rotation it will just pull you clean out of the water and it will get messy but if you dont pull hard enough on your back hand you will just fall on your back half way round and land on your back looking back at the kite
give it ago if you cant allready do it. as you get better at it you can add as manny rotations as you like. if you get the timing down this move can look realy cool (i think so anyway)
you can even use this move for something different on a slidder. instead of putting you front hand in the water place it on the end of a slider and pivot around that instead
have fun

damo, got some practice on unhooked moves on friday. light wind is perfect for trying these people.
did a couple of spins tho it was too light to get any serious air.
good fun tho.
i like the feeling of the power.
that move sounds good.
i got one for u now.

as seen in space monkeys by jeff tobias:
pop and lay ur body horizontal and do 1,2 or multiple spins laying flat. as u r doing this pull hard with ur front hand and loop the kite forward and then it pulls u the other way for a great looking transition.
looks best unhooked and stretched out.

caution i am guessing that you mean spinning backwards and not just pop off the water but actualy boost rather high??
or is it more like the hand plant transition but you are looping the kite forward rather than just sending it back???
anyone get out yesterday????
this is starting to get anoying since i have got back on the water after trashing my ankle i havnt been out on anything smaller than an 18m..........come on summer

OK another nice simple one that i rekkon looks cool if its done with style. if you can ride toeside and you can jump then you shouldn't have any trubble doing this one.
toeside 540

rideing toeside holding a firm edge send the kite above your head, do a forward spinn and landing going the other way.
the secret to this move as with most transitions is what you do with the kite. as you are riding toeside lets say with your left foot forwards pull on your left hand (remeber you are riding toeside so your left hand is your back hand) and when you leave the water pull back on your right hand to park the kite over your head while you are in the air and just before you stick the landing that is when you want to be pulling on the left hand again to give you speed for the landing.[}:)]

Hey guys,
Glad to here your still getting time out on the water back their on oz. I'll try and keep you updated with some of the rad stuff thats happening over here (Kailua), but its good to here your ankles all good again Damo!
Try this one, apparently it looks quite good from the beach.
Best done in lightish winds. Boost off the water, do a board off, then as your coming to land drop/place the board on the water, land on it and cruise off.
This should only be tried on flat water (maybe pelican point) and not to be done by Damo, as when i try it i tend to give my ankles a bit of a thrashing!
Aloha

what do people think of the board off tricks?? are they cool or are they over rated??
If you think they do look cool what sort of board off tricks look best?? big inverted board offs, board off spinning things, board passes or what ever??

I personally can't do board off tricks, so take this with a pinch of salt. I don't realy rate them, I prefer kite loops with big jumps and spins or really fast snappy tricks super low or little grabs during transitions or out in small surf doing hand plants that sort of stuff. my latest curiousity has been turned to wakeskating, I got one delivered last week, having so much fun on it trying to learn that stuff...

A good way to ensure you get your feet in correctly is to set up a bar and chicken loop at home, strung from the roof beams. Harness up, grab your board, and get those abs working.
The neighbours will think you're some kind of weirdo however.....

i saw a photo of a fella called mike smith (he is one of the top british pros) doing a cool board off move. it was like a board off dead man but he passed the board behind his head while he was inverted. it might sound realy tricky but i rekon if you can do a deadman then it shouldnt be that much harder. just boost as big as you can[}:)]send the kite back infront of you take the board off with your front hand kicking the your feet out infront of you then invert throwing your head and hands back while you are upsidedown pass the board into your back hand and place your front hand back on the bar to steer the kite put the board back on and stick the landing. simple hey but it might need alot of practice. i like this on because it combines 2 of my favorite moves the board off and the deadman

I learnt a new one (for me any way) by accident on sunday. I was riding un-hooked, went for a kite loop (clockwize rotation) and threw in a back roll then let go with my left hand as I started the spin. I must say when I went up for that jump I did not think of doing it at the time. Much to my delight I landed it and stuck it.........The rest of the arvo was spent doing the same jump and I stuck about 90% of them, the wind was only maxing about 15kts on a 14m Chinakite but I dont know if I would like to try with any stronger wind than that.....
