I would have been more than happy to sell you a board or any other gear. I run KiteSurfTasmania on the North-West Coast.
There aren't that many people over here so I don't do a great deal of business that isn't word of mouth or the local phone book.
But you have tickled the marketing genius that hides somewhere deep in the reccess of my infinitely befuddled mind, and perhaps one day I will endevour to get a web site up and running for situations such as this.

If I can help at all drop us a line:

I hope you enjoy Tassie's clean, empty beaches, and maybe I'll bump into you down the East coast at Easter.

hey fellow tassie kiters! i heard that andy at x-sport just didnt get the sales he needed to stay in business and subsequently he folded. if its true then its a damn shame but at the same time its very easy to buy gear off the net nowdays and shipping costs arent that much. anyhow, im down south over easter and keen for some kiting on anyday there is a breeze. reckon there would be a strong westerly at some stage so will get out ot dorans rd. i REALLY want to try marion bay as ive heard / read heaps thats it the bomb location! just anything easterly and it rocks, so lets try it out! maybe i'll see some of you guys out if the gods of wind are on our side...

That really sucks about that company folding for all.

I agree that internet is cheap for buying, however when there is only a limited no of kiters in tassie so how do you test/try gear before you buy ?

Makes it hard to take risks getting new gear in the state.

Buy whats cheap and hope it works out ok.

To give you guys an update, hobart winds have been all or nothing recently, bring something small nads, if you're keen to get out regardless. There's been some good surf around though.

If I wanted to make money i wouldn't be selling kites. Think of my "kite shop" as a "service" to ALL Tassie kiters.
With something like 50 kiters statewide I'm only interested in seeing the kites out there and people having fun.

That's why we've got the Stanley trip happening this weekend with hopefully around 10-15 kiters turning up to play in 20-30 knots. And with my MASSIVE profits I've bought a $20 stove from K-Mart to put on a free BBQ for all the crew.

I hope to extend this into a statewide kiting 'series' as such, so that we can all get in the same place at once, and then try out a whole heap of each others gear.

This seems like the only real way of demoing new and different gear in a state like ours. It's also a good way for the new guys to get together and learn a few more things than you otherwise would kiting by yourself.

Plans are "a-foot" for a wave weekend at Marrawah and other events at Launceston the East Coast and Hobart.

It's all good.

Hope that the wind works for your stanley trip, sounds good.

Im heading to sterkfontein dam this weekend, in south africa. Most scenic kiting in the world with the drakensbergs in the background.

Anyway, what is it like kiting at Coles Bay in the westerlies. Is it just too gusty to kite, as the wind is coming over the land first, or is there long enough for the wind to settle down again across the water before it hits coles bay beach ? anyone know. Imagine that friendly beaches is great for a northerly or easterly etc too before the fronts hit.

Cheers for the info, Tim

Hi Tim, you can kite in westerlies and at Coles Bay definately the only wind that is no good is NNW bowkites of course make it even easier so hopefully we will get plenty of wind at easter because i think there is going to be 3-4 kiters in town which will be great. I am now the Underground Kiteboards Dealer for Tassie so I will have 3 of there new 06 boards in about 6 weeks apparently they are amazing but they have a waiting list of about 500 boards at the moment because there is so much overseas demand. I will be really happy to let all the tassie crew try them out when they arrive, I am getting one of there surfboards as well.
