Hey Salty, I wished we all knew the answer for your question.

Remember weather is dynamic and although Sunday is called for southerly's you just need to be on the right spot when it happens.

ECL are always interesting but this is a real mild one as it's positioned too far south to have any real puff. Might produce some swell, which would be handy as it's been flat for heaps.

The local boys will be able to fill you in on the day. PM them.

I am 1 hour north and will be working.

Hello all,

well it seems if we get a southerly (which seems to change daily), I'll see you all around Shoalhaven Surf Club, on Sunday around 1pm.

I'll rig up as close as I can whilst still being a safe distance from the club.

I'll be on a yellow/brow starkite 12m or a blue North Rebel 9m. If I'm a no show (hey, I"m only human) feel free to start without me!

Good luck!

There is a little hit of surf around at the moment. Currently it is around head height, I think it will drop if anything...
I reckon you will be right, waves aren't very nasty along this stretch.

I'm thinking if the skys are clear tomorrow, the afternoon may see a sea breeze...
Could be more reliable than the shifting wind which is forecast for Sunday.
See ya there if it blows.

Was a good day today.
As I suspected the NE came in just after lunch. Somewhere between 15 and 20 knots. Did two downwinders.
The first with Zarb and Dave. The second with Dave and Mini.
Waves were small around shoulder height. The fellas looked like they were having a ball!!!
Cheers for coming guys, hopefully it blows tomorrow.

Hey Kitcho.

I had (literally) 10mins on the water on some random beach on Friday on the drive up to NSW from VIc. Not sure where, but it was a small beach south of Batemans Bay.

The wind looked like it was picking up but in reality, it was no more than 12knotts (Struggled to keep kite in the air). Still had a good time playing around and practicing my slide turns (it's so much more forgiving when you've got little wind to play with).

I'm gutted I missed the downwinder, sounded awesome. I was down Gerrigong on Sat, gear in hand... plenty of wind, but all off shore... I saw one guy (seemed quite new) try going out with a 9m purple Airrush. After one failed launch (pulled him over the board) he thought better of it and came back in!

Sorry for the let down guys. I'm glad you got out though!

Hey Salty, like I said in an earlier post, "PM the locals".

Seems Surfboy and mates had good conditions (7 mile) but a few of us had epic 20kts Saturday over a 4 hour period. We were 1 hour north at a unnamed location.

The Illawarra/Shoalhaven area is not a consistent place but when it does switch on, you gotta be quick.

Like in the snow, there are "no friends" on a powder day.

I didn't end up doing my epic downwinder either.

The only time it got windy enough to inflate my kite on my week long holiday was the afternoon before an incoming storm on Pebbly beach in the Yuraygir National Park. Google map link: www.google.com.au/maps?q=station+creek+nsw&hl=en&ll=-29.943686,153.257711&spn=0.01534,0.027874&sll=-35.167073,149.787598&sspn=1.852329,3.56781&t=h&gl=au&hq=station+creek+nsw&radius=15000&z=16

South easterly was blowing in at about 18 knots so I had a nice session on the beach. Just about all of the campers at the site (about 25 of em) came down to the beach to watch me in action, a couple of them were from regional QLD and have never actually seen kitesurfing in real life before so they thought it was a real treat.

Anyway, storm came in that night and dumped about 150mm of rain in the space of a few hours. Woke up the next morning and half of the campground was ankle deep in water. People's tents were under water, chaos everywhere, but good spirits. The hairiest bit was that to get into this campsite you need to drive along a beach and then cross through a tidal creek at low tide. So after the storm this creek was up to my nuts deep and flowing fast and we wanted to leave that day, as did about 10 other vehicles. Just had to tarp up the front grille and power on through with water half way up the doors and the bow wave washing up to the windshield - and we all made it through sweet.

Good times :)
