For sure, i'll be down there anyway to check out the conditions, hopefully it swings back to at least cross shore.

Sunday arvo sounds good too, look forward to it.

Just to clarify the posts before, I don't know if telling an inspector that your tag is on your other harness will work.. it may or may not.

and I am unaware if you need the physical tag or if you just have to be signed up.

I would email josh... jordan... justin.... can't remember his name.... from Saksa and Im sure they will be able to give you the verdict on that one.

Otherwise, just kite at a beach that you dont need your tag. If you have paid and been told you are now a member, I assume you would be covered under the insurance and you don't run the risk of being fined.

Looks like the wind has swing West so you guys are going to be in for an onshore afternoon if it doesnt get some southerly in it.

Very safe for you (as you will just get blown back on the beach) but you take on the danger of not being able to get off the shore line and if you crash close to the beach, you could hit someone walking down the beach or wreck your kite.

Its never a bad day to practise body dragging either if you feel that it is slightly too windy for your gear and youre not confident on a board. I usually go out, body drag for 15 at the start to check the conditions, how the kite is flying etc.

Now Im just rambling and should be working!

Hope you guys get a good session in!

Cheer!

Lucky you mate!!!! :S I got there around 440pm and the wind was dead... I practiced setting up my equipment I guess :P so pushups and went for a run... I talked to a nice European couple (I think they're European because of the accent)... Better luck next time... We'll keep checking te weather forecast and head down to the beach... We could set a meeting point so we could meet face to face, it would be really nice to put faces to all the nice people sharing experiences here :D

Hi GJOchoa

From the BOM forecast

The chance of an early morning shower. Sunny afternoon. Winds south to southeasterly averaging up to 35 km/h.

The easterly part of southeasterly may be a hassle at Largs. I plan to get out to Pt Parham if I manage to get away from work in time.

Should be a good one from the forecast....

If not, tomorrow looks just as good....

It is down south of bower rd at a place called mirani court. It has good car parking, beach access, a shower and toilet block. Nice spot to kite!

My understanding is that the chicken shop is not so good for beginners. Went and had a look the other day and the beach seems like it could be hard to launch from for a beginner. Is that the case?

Chicken shop is ok for beginners. I've been out both there and Largs while learning.
I prefer Largs because it is a bit more sheltered which makes board learning a bit easier.
The curved beach at the northern end also means that your board is more likely to come back in to the beach eventually if you lose it like on my last outing...

At low tide there is plenty of space to launch at the chicken shop and there are often other kiters around to help out.
Both beaches give you a nice long downwind run if you get going so in the end it is just preference really.

I didnt have any issues there the other day.

I suppose at High tide it could get a bit cramped but shouldnt be too bad.

Plenty of guys kite there and a few beginners out the other day so I didnt see any issue.

Nice and shallow out during mid tide so I found it to be a good spot to go.

I tend to think that Largs has too easy access for the public so tends to get crowded.

Like Monty said, its preferance. It can be a bit scary kiting or windsurfing at a new beach as the conditions are un-familiar so its best to check it out first for depth, wind direction etc. Like I mentioned earlier, I body drag for a bit to see how it is.

Fair enough. I'll have to give it a go some time. I think it was high tide when I went.

Either way I'll be at Largs this time round

Hey Guys!!! I went yesterday to Largs Bay around 540pm... I was the noob body dragging with a 10metres yellow switchblade... A guy named Matt helped me out with the launch, thanks!!! I'm alright with the self landing but I havent tried self launch yet, kind of scare of this maneuvre still...
Yesterday, I ditched the board because I wanted to improve my upwind body dragging. It went pretty well, I just followed all the tips given and it was alright... straight banana shape body, extended legs and use one arm as a rudder, kite between 25 and 45 degrees. Actually I didn't find it difficult, the hardest part was not swallowing water!!!!

I'll try to go to Largs again today around 5pm... the wind is supposed to be good, I think... any comments or thoughts??

Hey mate. I was there as well. Was a nice day although it was too windy enough for my 12 and not windy enough for my 7. Tried the 7 anyway but found it difficult. What kite were you flying?
