If you're into freshwater kiting, the stretch of the River Murray between Old Clayton (near Clayton Bay) and the Finniss River is good from practically every direction. The river is only 1km wide and it's waist-to-chest high everywhere except for the narrow main channel, so you can't get in too much trouble. The only downside is that public access is very limited.

There is public access from a park at the end of Clayton St in Old Clayton.

Note that there are no beaches anywhere along this stretch of river, so launching requires wading out into shallow water.
