The is the one! Maintaining watch and arranging friend to check it out........10k import costs any other hidden costs?

What is the breakdown of the $10k?

There will be a fee for de-registering Canadian ship.

There will be a fee for registering an Australian ship, you will possibly not be allowed to leave Canada till that is complete and paperwork is in your hands, you certainly will not be allowed into Australia without Aus ship registration.

As the boat is US manufactured you will need a certificate attesting to that or you will pay import duty, remember Australia has a FTA with the US.

The cost of delivery (even if you sail it yourself) will be assessed and just for good measure GST on top of that.

There will be a fee for AQIS to inspect and pass your boat as being fit to enter Australia, any compliance costs are yours to bear, plus mooring and or storage fees if it fails first inspection.

I'm sure there are others that I have forgotten at the moment. But I hope it's a start.

I could deal with that however I really hate paper work! I was thinking 20k I have a Canadian friend in Mexico who is going to take alook at it and would insist in delivery and I would have to get a survey before I even thought of flying over there! Haha but it could all be possible.....my navionics won't allow me to work out the trip details Total distance! Might have to upgrade that as well!

Another one that I just remembered ......

Air-conditioning and or Refrigeration

It's recommended you get your boat dealer or a third party who is involved in air-conditioning and or refrigeration to inspect said boat and write an inspection report on their letterhead stating NO air- conditioning or refrigeration found on this boat or said boat was degassed and said unit was removed.

If you have an air conditioner or fridge on board you will possibly need an import permit for them ....and guess what? ..... more $$$$$
There used to be a Gummint dept. that was in charge of all that called www.ozone.gov.au ... they seem to no longer exist so may be worth chasing if there are nre regs and hoops to jump through.
