HG, would it be out of place to suggest you make the table 3-legged by utilising the tiller upright shaft (is it called the headstock?) and having a short rear leg resting over the top nut somehow. The tiller handle would have to be horizontal though.

Id like to utilize the same mounting when I use it in the cabin its only 28 foot room with a view

I just keep looking at my butcher/surgical removal and wonder if I will ever get some help to finish the job!

Hi folks, this is a loong thread. Today I've wired an extension speaker for the vhf, trimmed and lanoxed the standing rigging, stocked the fridge, cleaned the engine sea water intake filter, checked the bilges, discovered seabreeze, all while holed up in port Stephens waiting for this southerly to settle down, looks like currency lass could be here for a few days, nice place to be stuck in port

Well what a long weekend, All geared up for a beaut sunday sail checked the oil F*#K full of water, So spent the weekend removing the motor, now its in my shed to be stripped down !0hp Arona i think these motors are better suited for moorings always an issue Has any one replaced one of these and what did you use in a Spirit 28. Hi darmah, I removed a 10hp Arona from my Top Hat 25 last year, & gave it away. The engine was fantastic, it started first time, every time, sounded good, it was rusty at the front due to a small water leak on the water pump, but the sides and back of the motor were nearly pristine (only discovered how good it looked after removing it).
It was the things bolted to the engine that were causing the problems, engine mounts, exhaust pipe, water pump & stern gland etc etc.
I "kind of" regret not spending a few $$$ on getting good quality engine mounts, stern gland etc & keeping the engine. I put a outboard on the transom, which isn't ideal for coastal, but at least im not spending half the time with my head in the small engine bay adjusting something.
I left the prop shaft in place, in case of putting in another inboard, I too would be interested in a suitable replacement.
The guy I gave the Arona to was thrilled, apparently they are good engines, worth fixing???

Hi darmah re your Arona I have one sitting in my garage which was rebuilt about 10 years ago and never put back in my Top Hat .It's here if you want it ?

well I'm retiring now and hope to get most thing completed before it starts raining Don and as my as one of my sons getting married mid winter Ill now take my time and hope to drop it in the water next spring . During winter Ill finish of every thing inside
as its still roughed out but many small jobs to finish off.
But all my puzzles are done I hope

I've final got my memory back which is great after so long .
so I should be far more focused plus as of today I'm a grand dad from my other son

still like new, it gets dirty of course but a wash down with washing up liquid and a rinse with
fresh water and it looks like its just been painted.
Happy retirement mate, and do some planning....you can't sail everywhere at once lol. Oh, and
time will probably start to move along real quick now....just sayin'.

Driftwood will sit there for a bit yet want to get the outside finished before winter then finish off the inside
My sons getting married mid year so I slowed things down a bit
My boom cover will be getting measured up later this week and I have started ropes back to the cockpit today
Ill try and get the spray dodger done and a few other thing soon

Thanks SandS booms on and so are all the halyards hope to have the boom bag measured up tomorrow
fitted my to VHF aerials Ill do the wind vane and wind indicator later
I have to mouse the topping lift in as I was a bit careless connecting the new halyard and if fell off but all good got to climb the mast
