Has anyone tested the 175AR tail yet?

I currently only have the 150AR but interested in extending the low end of my 720s.

The 175 seems HUGE but this line from the website seems to suggest it might pair with the 720s.

"Our advanced riders have been enjoying this tail when riding bigger, faster waves when wing, tow or surf foiling. They have found they get more hold and stability when paired with the 720S front wing. However, it does not roll as well as the 175AR, so if you want more manoeuvrability, you may want to size down."

Your comment does not make sense. The quote says it does not roll as well as the 175AR. What tail are they talking about?

Thats from the code website for the 188R, so they are pairing that with the 720s but saying the step down to 175AR rolls better.

So my question remains currently own a 150AR with that quote above in mind I wonder which would be the better step up in size with the 720s to add low end the 158AR or the 175AR

I use the 158 with the 850. Turns better than the 150 but is slower, which is good in waves. I am considering getting the 175 as well, would be good to hear from someone with experience.

funny I actually watched that just after I posted the quote was so good to hear james talk about that bit but especially when he mentioned it doesn't pump in that combo which makes sense. Still wonder if the 175 is any different though looks like we're both interested :)

I use the short fuse with the 980/850/720 with the 150AR kite, wing and sup foiling and it turns way better than the medium fuse, with the medium fuse it's a bit pedestrian on all setups, a delayed response I find. Not sure if it's necessary for a bigger tail if you have power, either big waves or wind as it'll just add drag, FWIW 95-100kg rider

Good to know, thanks for that, so far loving the long fuse on the 720s/150AR but with a 980s on the way I might add a short fuse into the mix!

oooh good on you mate, you know I want a review once you've had a chance very interested to hear what you think of the 175I had a major ahah moment on the 720s/150AR last session suddenly the pump just clicked making it a much more versatile wing for me. We had 2-4ft a few days in a row and it handled it so well.Having said that I've got a 980s and short fuse on the way hopefully soon I'm a tad concerned I'll be overfoiled but it's for the smallest of small days, bay runs and trying to learn to wing

Tiny beach break surf 980, 75, med, 175 tail using FoilDrive with a sup. The tail definitely slows the 980 down which is good. Turning was much improved for my weight (100kg) carried me back to the foam much better than the 150. Could definitely push harder on the turns and it did not feel overly lifty on takeoff. Very happy.

Hopefully will get a ding this arvo on it as well.

oooh awesome sounds like a winning combo for you! yeah I agree when surfing I don't always want "the fastest setup" still waiting for my 980s to be shipped... surf has dropped off down here and it was a much bigger battle on the 720s today

No I changed the 850 for a 720 yesterday. Will try it with that soon. It was not so good dinging. I think the 150 is better.

Trid the 720 with 175 tail in small waves. Worked ok. Roll was amazing and really controlled. Not much glide for my 100kg.

You will love it for wing and tow. FoilDrive with bigger waves should be killer.

Yeah I'd agree there's not a huge amount of glide in my 720s/150AR definitely less than my Uni Progression 125 had. I do have to work the foil more to keep it in it's happy place but having said that once it's over 3ft it's a lot more confidence inspiring and stable through the speed range than my uni was. So it does the job I got it for.

Thanks, I'm 75kg but usually I'm also on full wetsuit so it adds more.

I tried the 720/longfus/158 in good surf, I really like how it handles the speed and the control you have on the turns, you can really do full committed bottom turn into a top carving turn in "steep" (at leat for foiling) section.

Hey, can you pump the 980S sup foiling? I'm around the same weight and not having much luck pumping the 980S with short fuse and 150AR. Maybe I should've got the 1130S?

Is anyone pumping the 980S successfully at 100kgs sup foiling? If so, what's the secret?

No idea about pumping as I use a FoilDrive. 1130 would be seriously lifty I would guess. Demo one?

Anyone compared the Code equivalent to an Axis 951 ART pro with 360 skinny stab for a 73kg guy?
I have this and use it 90% of the time from 10kn to 30kn wind on lake water and love it for its acceleration, control, amazing glide, speed, and manouravability.

Just realised I am not in the windwing forum still interested in any comments, thanks.

The Axis 951 is very close to the Code 770 r spec wise. This is the foil that won all the races in Hawaii . I've downwinded ( me on the wing ) with the Ben Tardrew and the "A" team Sup DW boys and they all used it . It's incredibly fast I struggled to keep up on the code 980s . How much better than the Axis I can't say but I did put some time in on the Axis 1001 and loved it . You really would need to jump on a 770r and test yourself , you are smack on in the weight range for it .

Completely different wings. 951 much much higher stall speed and I would say much higher top speed. I would say no current equivalent. Maybe soon though...

Different section, dimensions don't mean everything.

770R is "easy" for a foil this size.

My mates selling his mountain bike and wants to get into foiling. He's got up behind a boat on my axis gear.. I said he should just invest in code from the start as that's what I would be riding if I wasn't so invested in axis, seems like the best reviews and saves the bother of re-selling and changing brands once he's progressed . would the 850s be viable to learn on? Tail wing? long fusalage? He's around 90kg

I'd also consider unifoil progression for his first kit, I've moved from Uni to Code but I feel the Uni was an easier kit to ride it's just not much good once you get into waves with a bit of energyIf he's a rank beginner and wants to go with code at 90kg I'd be going 980s at a minimum but the 1130s would be better again, long fuse and 158AR would probably go well with it but it's all going to depend on what level he is at right now and what kind of conditions he's going to be learning in.
